What is the policy<br />
This policy outlines the principle expectations of Cerebral Palsy Alliance in regards to<br />
the application <strong>and</strong> maintenance of rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities.<br />

A right is:<br />
acceptable within a community’s range of actions, beliefs <strong>and</strong> values<br />
guided by mutual underst<strong>and</strong>ing, agreement <strong>and</strong> current practice<br />
permitted <strong>and</strong> given to a person under law, eg. equal opportunity, equity <strong>and</strong> access<br />
<strong>and</strong> anti-discrimination<br />
<strong>Responsibilities</strong> are:<br />
things or actions within one’s power or control for which an individual is<br />
answerable<br />
Why is this policy needed<br />
This policy is needed to ensure that all rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities of clients are<br />
respected, upheld <strong>and</strong> maintained.<br />
Whom does it affect<br />
Stakeholders of the organisation, staff, volunteers, clients <strong>and</strong> contractors<br />
Expected result/outcome<br />
This is one of many policies of Cerebral Palsy Alliance that is aimed at achieving an<br />
environment within which clients, their families <strong>and</strong> staff are aware of their own <strong>and</strong><br />
others rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities <strong>and</strong> have these rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities upheld.<br />

POLICY STATEMENT<br />
Cerebral Palsy Alliance will endeav<strong>our</strong> to ensure that all rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities of<br />
those who use Cerebral Palsy Alliance services <strong>and</strong> those who provide services are<br />
respected, upheld <strong>and</strong> maintained. The rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities are defined in<br />
legislation, <strong>and</strong> Cerebral Palsy Alliance policies.<br />
PROCEDURES<br />
These rights <strong>and</strong> responsibilities are to be promoted at all sites <strong>and</strong> made available to<br />
any client <strong>and</strong> family on request (see Appendix A, <strong>Rights</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Responsibilities</strong> –What<br />
you can expect when using a service at Cerebral Palsy Alliance).<br />
