obtained through study <strong>and</strong> hard work<br />

• There is freedom for each <strong>and</strong> every<br />

citizen; there is tolerance for individual<br />

differences<br />

• Consensus is an important thing in The<br />

Netherl<strong>and</strong>s; everyone’s input must be<br />

• Dutch are straightforward <strong>and</strong> have a<br />

direct communic<strong>at</strong>ion style; preference for<br />

hard facts <strong>and</strong> figures over emotions<br />

structured with an agenda


• Come in time for a meeting<br />

• Dress in an informal conserv<strong>at</strong>ive way<br />

• When giving compliments or criticism to<br />

an individual do this in priv<strong>at</strong>e with this<br />

person <strong>and</strong> not in a group<br />

• Put your titles/educ<strong>at</strong>ion on your business<br />

card<br />

• Look <strong>at</strong> a person when speaking


• St<strong>and</strong> talking with your h<strong>and</strong>s in your<br />

pocket<br />

• E<strong>at</strong> chewing gum in business meetings or<br />

in public<br />

• Give business partners expensive gifts<br />

• try to show <strong>of</strong>f or exagger<strong>at</strong>e your skills
