REPORT OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and Citizens of Lenox:
The Board of Health met on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at
the Town Hall. This year we had the welcome addition of Robert LaChance to our
board. Usual business consisted of reviewing the State Department of Public Health
publications, new rules, procedures, statistics, and all current business at the local level.
The Board has been working to improve recycling efforts and waste management
with the local haulers. Daley & Sons Trucking will resume hauling recycling
materials to the Springfield Municipal Recycling Facility (SMRF). The Town of
Lenox will receive fifty percent (50%) of the revenues.
The Board also meets regularly as the Tri-Town Health Department with the
Boards of Health members from Lee and Stockbridge and our Tri-Town
Director/Sanitarian, Peter J. Kolodziej. As a Tri-Town Board we discuss mutual concerns
and address issues pertinent to all three communities. A major focus of our
attention has been managing expenses and income.
The Board met with Visiting Nurse Association of the Berkshires to discuss the
public health nurse role regarding health promotion and disease prevention, communicable
disease investigation, and immunization clinics.
The Board acknowledges and thanks the Lenox VNA Investment Committee
for their continued financial support. This money offsets the charges to us from the
VNA of the Berkshires.

of the Berkshires, Plumbing and Gas Inspector, Tri-Town Health Department, and the
Animal Inspector.
