The <strong>College</strong> reserves the right to impose Administrative Sanctions in order to take immediate action prior to the convening<br />

of a student conduct meeting under the following circumstances: to ensure the safety and well-being of members<br />

of the <strong>College</strong> community or preservation of <strong>College</strong> property; to preserve the student’s own physical or emotional<br />

safety and well-being; if the student poses a definite threat of disruption or interference with the normal operations of<br />

the <strong>College</strong>; if the student has engaged in a serious violation of <strong>College</strong> policy and/or local, state or federal laws.<br />

Such interim action shall remain in effect until the hearing process has been completed. The requisite notice and hearing<br />

process shall follow as soon as possible thereafter.<br />

The <strong>College</strong> reserves the right to sanction students for off-campus violations of city, state, or federal laws<br />

which adversely affect the safety of the members of the <strong>College</strong> community and the larger community or their<br />

property or impede the fundamental mission of the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Appeals<br />

Only cases that result in a sanction of Suspension or Removal from the Residential System, in the case of residential<br />

students, may be appealed to the Dean of Students. An appeal to the Dean of Students will be limited to aspects of the<br />

handling of the case by the Student Conduct Coordinator that the student alleges the 1) Student Conduct Process was<br />

not followed or 2) There is new information to be heard. The student must submit in writing all appeals to the Dean of<br />

Students within one school day after they receive notification in writing of the Student Conduct Coordinators decision.<br />

The appellate decision of the Dean of Students shall be final. The Dean of Students may lessen, uphold, or increase<br />

the sanction being appealed.<br />

With regard to all students (commuter and residential), only cases that result in a sanction of <strong>College</strong> Suspension or<br />

Expulsion can be appealed to the Dean of Students of the <strong>College</strong> in writing. An appeal to the Dean of Students will be<br />

limited to aspects of the Conduct meeting, and the Dean of Students’ handling of the case that the student alleges that<br />

1) Student Conduct Process was not followed, or<br />

2) There is new information to be heard.<br />

The student must submit in writing all appeals to the Dean of Students Office within one school day after they receive<br />

notification in writing of the Student Conduct Coordinators decision. The decision of the Dean of Students shall be final.<br />

The Dean of Students may lessen, uphold, or increase the sanction being appealed.<br />

Parents or legal guardians may be notified of violations of the Rules and Regulations of the <strong>College</strong>, particularly<br />

in the case of students identified as holding a “Dependent” status.<br />
