Kids transforming themselves and the world, one
goal at a time.
Our Mission
To inspire and empower children, aged 8-14, from
diverse, underserved Canadian communities to
practice Possibility Thinking, and to become leaders
by creating meaningful Goals of Contribution, both
now and in the future. We will accomplish our
mission through KidCoaching and the delivery of
impactful curriculum-based programming.

CHAIR AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
The past year at Future Possibilities for Kids (FPK) has been a time of achievement,
transition and celebration. FPK worked with more kids and involved more KidCoaches
than ever before in each of our program delivery areas across Southern Ontario.
Unfortunately, Lisa Diamond, our Executive Director moved on to another youth serving
organization. Thank you to Lisa for her leadership and support for the agency during and
since her tenure. Lianne Picot was appointed in April as FPK’s new Executive Director
and is very excited about taking forward this dynamic and committed organization. Thank
you to the Board and the staff team for their excellent work continuing the organization’s
work during this period of transition.
2011 also marks the 10 th anniversary of Future Possibilities for Kids. We have been
remembering and celebrating the progress made and the organization’s many
accomplishments. There have been over 1000 children and 600 KidCoach volunteers
involved in the agency over the past decade and many more have been impacted by the
leadership skills both kids and volunteers have developed in that time.
The Board and the Staff Team are very much looking forward to the next year of fostering
‘possibility thinking’ in more kids, more communities and within our own agency as we
look at the improvements we can make in our program delivery and organizational
competencies.
Thank you to everyone who supported us in our work this year. We look forward to your
involvement in 2011/12!

+ ABOUT US
Future Possibilities for Kids has provided free
leadership and life-skills education to children from
underserved school communities since 2001.
Established in 2001 by Geri and Harry
Berholz, Future Possibilities for Kids has been
growing leaders among children and youth
ages 8 to 14 and creating a positive impact in
underserved communities throughout the the
Greater Toronto Area, York Region, London,
Stratford and Kitchener/Waterloo regions.

Our programs help kids set achievable goals
that help make their community a better place
while giving them a new found sense of
confidence and empowerment. By using a
coaching approach these kids develop new
perspectives, skills and relationships that
directly benefit their emotional and educational
welfare, while challenging and inspiring them
to reach higher and create their own
possibilities now and in the future.

Ready Set Goal! Program
The program benefits’ children’s well-being by applying an innovative and
interactive curriculum and a mentorship-style approach to educating.
Our annual award-winning, curriculum based 6-month Ready Set Goal!
program complements what is taught in school and is delivered outside of
school hours at no cost to families or schools. Every child is matched up
with their own adult volunteer coach. The KidCoach inspires, supports, and
guides the child through the process of setting and achieving a self-defined
‘Goal of Contribution’, a goal that benefits her/his community or school. This
unique one-on-one coaching method is delivered through weekly
curriculum-based phone conversations, four Activity Days and a year-end
graduation. The children grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially
through their experiences with the Ready Set
Goal!
Program.
Kidcouncil Program
KidCouncil is a program designed to further develop the leadership skills and social
awareness of our Kids.
KidCouncil is oriented around teamwork, and is aimed at fostering the
accomplishment of some collective goals that benefit the greater
community. KidCouncillors serve as positive role models for other children
and youth, as leaders in their communities and as ambassadors for our
organization. Please note that from September 2011, KidCouncil will be
known as ‘Ready, Set, Action!’.

Kids reported a significant increase in self- confidence
and improved view of themselves.
• Over 96% will use the life and leadership skills they
learned in the program beyond their Future
Possibilities experience
• Over 55% reported their grades improved while in the program
• Over 90% reported they feel better about themselves as a result
of being in the programs
• Over 95% learned important leadership skills, such as courage,
planning, perseverance, public speaking, and how to deal with
problems
• Over 95% reported they grew as leaders during the program
• 100% said that their KidCoach helped them achieve success
• Parents and teachers echoed this feedback and think think the
children benefited from the program
London/Stratford
KidCoaches also reported significant benefits from
coaching their Kid.
• More than 85% reported they improved their communication and
leadership skills that are transferrable beyond their volunteer
work at Future Possibilities
• More than 96% reported they anticipate using these enhanced
skills in their life outside of Future Possibilities
• More than 90% would recommend the experience of volunteering
