SL4 reader and KP key
The durable SL4 reader, in
combination with the unique KP
key, forms a safe reading system
for, amongst other things, access
control. The KP key, which is usually
carried on a bunch of keys, is read
by sliding it over the reader. The
SL4 reader has a LED which, after
reading the code on the key,
indicates whether access is given.
Coding
The coding in the key is based on a
magnetic code. In contract to the
magnetic on a credit card this code
is not just put on the surface, but in
1 mm thick material.
The reader consists of a cast
stainless steel plate, with a
guidance slot for the key in it.
Application and mounting
The SL4 reader is mounted from the
inside, suing stainless steel M5 wire
end, and comes with 2.5 metres of
cable as standard. This cable can be
lengthened to a maximum length of
25 meters. If mounting from the
inside is not possible, the reader
can be provided with an optional
aluminium mounting plate.
Concerning connection, the digital
SL4 reader is fully compatible with
magnetic card readers and contact
less readers, sending data according
to the ISO 7811 norm. In real
terms, this means that the SL4
reader and such a magnetic card
reader are interchangeable and can
even be used side by side each
other in one system.
The electronics are mounted at the
back, and than cast in a moisture
tight synthetic resin. The SL4 reader
is resistant to most types of
vandalism.
