The International Relations in Polish Program - Collegium Civitas

The Journalism Program combines formal
education in politics, law, sociology, economics,
psychology, philosophy and history with a variety
of workshops which enable students to handle
assignments from cross-media formats including
the print media, radio and television. Students
develop research, analytical and documentation
skills, learn to write and edit print media
and to create scripts for radio and television
programs.
The courses and workshops of the Journalism
Program are taught by a group of leading Polish
journalists. The Program Director is Jacek Żakowski,
host of news and information programs on the
TOK FM radio station, columnist with Polityka
magazine and broadcaster on major
TV channels. Other media personalities teaching
on the Program include Grzegorz Miecugow,
editor-in-chief of the TVN24 news channel and
Tomasz Wróblewski, editor-in-chief of Newsweek
Polska magazine.

of the internship and training opportunities
available at these prestigious media
organizations. The Journalism Program
at Collegium Civitas is formally
a specialization within Political Science
but enjoys autonomous status.
The Program grants BA and MA degrees.
Collegium Civitas was hosting J.M. Coetzee,
a famous writer and Noble Prize Winner (2003)
The Political Philosophy Program
at Collegium Civitas is based on a system
of individual academic tuition which
enables students to study directly under
their chosen mentor throughout their
course of study.
The Program was developed in close
co-operation with the Institute
of Philosophy and Sociology at the Polish
Academy of Sciences. Its design follows
the assumption that philosophical reflection
will grow in importance as a means
of contributing to modern public life, hence
the program emphasis on political
philosophy. With this goal in mind, students
have the opportunity to participate
in workshops and to develop practical
interpersonal and discussion skills.

While emphasizing the “philosophy
as practice” approach, traditional philosophical
disciplines such as epistemology,
ontology, ethics, aesthetics and the history
of philosophy are also central aspects
of the Program.
The Program Director is Professor Tadeusz
Gadacz, one of the most accomplished
contemporary Polish philosophers.
He is the recipient of the President
of Warsaw Award for Best Academic Teacher
and is the editor of the Encyclopedia
of Religion and of the PWN Polish Science
Publishers Encyclopedia.
Professors Agata Bielik-Robson,
Paweł Dybel, Robert Piłat and other
distinguished philosophers
are members of the Program faculty.
