Report from the
ADvAnCement Committee
As always it is the school community and our generous
families and staff, with their dedication to our children and
our school, that is the real motivator and whose efforts move
us forward. So please take a moment to celebrate with me, a
few of our community’s many accomplishments:
1. Our Diploma programme has been successfully
accredited, making us a full IB Continuum World School, only
one of 8 such schools in Canada. This milestone has meant
stronger than ever interest in our school, from families locally,
nationally and internationally.
2. enrollment and re-enrollment are very strong. Our
attrition rate this year was a record low 9%, and we project
opening the 2012-2013 school year with a record high head
count of 540.
3. The desire to build Meadowridge into an outstanding
school has also been reflected in participation rates in our
critical Annual Giving Campaign. Overall participation is at
54%, and a very strong 60% in the PYP. It is gratifying to see
how many of our newly enrolled families, whose children will
not start at the school until next year, are participating already
in Annual Giving.
4. Contributing to our fundraising success was a sellout Golf
tournament, which reached its $65,000 target. Thank you to
all our donors, your strong engagement with our school and
community will allow us to continue to offer our children the
best programmes we can.
Some of our most important work this year has been to
build on the results of last year’s Visioning Committee, and
begin to shape the dreams and wishes we heard then, into
concrete plans for future school development. As I write this
at the end of June, our many Board Committees are giving
our draft Strategic Plan a final review. Over the summer,
Administration staff and Board members will work to develop
the accompanying strategic financial plan, tactical plans, and
key performance indicators. This is an exciting time to be part
of the Meadowridge community and it will be thrilling to see
the vision of a strong and expanded Meadowridge begin to
take shape.
It always bears repeating that the successful Advancement at
our school would not happen without the commitment and
generosity of our families. You give graciously of your time,
talent and treasure. We are truly more than just a school,
we are a community whose members understand that to
be successful, and help our children, we must continue to
expand our culture of giving. Thank you.
