Elements of a Routing Production
For more about batch handling, see the “HL7 Batch Messages” section in the chapter
“Settings for a Routing Production.”
DefCharEncoding
Framing
The default character encoding to use when reading or writing HL7 messages. If any incoming
HL7 message has an empty MSH:18 (Character Set) field, Ensemble uses the DefCharEncoding
value in its place. Supported values are UTF-8 or any member of the Latinn family. The
value Native means to use the native default encoding installed on the Ensemble server.
The default value for DefCharEncoding is Latin1.
Placing a ! (exclamation point) character at the beginning of this field forces Ensemble to
use the DefCharEncoding value and ignore any value found in MSH:18. For example: !UTF-8
Placing a @ (at sign) character at the beginning of this field means that the field identifies an
internal NLS Translation Table instead of a logical character encoding.
Controls how the HL7 business service interprets the incoming HL7 message packet. For a
list of framing options, see the “HL7 Message Framing Types” section in the chapter “Settings
for a Routing Production.” If you are unsure what value to use, accept the default of
Flexible framing for HL7 business services.
IgnoreInboundAck
If True, the business service ignores any inbound ACK messages to avoid creating an ACK
feedback loop. For details and related settings, see the “ “HL7 Acknowledgement (ACK)
Mode” ” section in the chapter “Settings for a Routing Production.”
ImmediateByteAck
(TCPAckIn and HTTPAckIn only) If this value is set to True, then in addition to forwarding a
full ACK message according to the AckMode setting, the business service also returns an
immediate 1–byte ACK on its TCP connection. For details, see the “Dual Acknowledgement
Sequences” section in the chapter “Settings for a Routing Production.”
Local Facility Application
Colon-separated LocalFacility:LocalApplication code that represents the facility and application
that receive HL7 messages via this business service. If this business service constructs
its own ACK, Local Facility Application provides the SendingFacility:SendingApplication
codes for the ACK message; otherwise, this setting is ignored.
