28. SP-Crow Creek, Lake County, Minnesota. This site, was occupied regularly by the pre-DDT
peregrines and again since 2003. Seven-year-old Wally b/g P/R, fledged at Palisade Head in
2000, paired with an unbanded female. Two young, a male and female, were banded on June
29. SP-Corundum Point cliff, Split Rock State Park, Lake County, Minnesota. As in former
years, the adults are very cautious, usually soaring high above when disturbed. Dave Evans
again spend many hours trying to identify the pair and was able to determine that an
unknown adult male and female were using the usual nest ledge on the southeast face of the
cliff. Four young were banded in early June, and one male and three females fledged in late
June.
an unbanded adult female. The pair nested in an old raven’s nest on an old loader unit, as the
original pair did in 1999-2003. Two young fledged in early July, one male and one female.
Male Jean had previously nested in 2006 just a few miles north at the Pink Cove territory.
32. SP-Palisade Head cliff, Tettegouche State Park, Lake County, Minnesota. According to Dave
Evans, a pair of adults, most likely the same pair as in 2005, nested on a ledge that was the
original ledge used in 1988. The male is banded with a silver USFWS band only and the
adult female was unbanded. Three eggs were laid and one female hatched and fledged
successfully in late June. State park DNR staff continue to post the area to prevent
disturbances to the nesting birds at this popular rock climbing site throughout the nesting and
fledging season. This site has the highest natural production of any site in Minnesota.
