*** A manuscript note by Jeffery Atkins explains that the
design was made when Murray’s props had to be rebuilt after
he lost everything in Germany. Three enlarged reproductions of
illustrations of Murray performing are included in the lot.

the wooden cabinet with two open sides and top, containing a die
with large Chinese characters on surfaces, held in place by a brass
rod, one open side of the cabinet with retractable screen repeating
one of the characters, with instructions, 115mm. high, [c.1930].
