of a painting (signed and dated Roma, 1870?) depicting a Japanese
conjuror giving a a private performance before a group of French
courtiers in eighteenth-century dress, 608mm. by 906mm., New
York, Morris & Bendien Inc., [c.1900]; another wood-engraved
version of the same picture from a German periodical; two engraved
plates illustrating Legerdemain, extracted from the Encyclopedia
Brittanica, 1797, with accompanying text; a lithographed cartoon
by John Doyle titled “The Thimble Rig,”, 1834; an engraved view
of the Egyptian Hall after Thomas H. Shepherd, and a large woodengraved
