a riverside, [Paris, c.1890]; Good (Arthur)] Tom Tit. [La Science<br />

Amusante], four cards from a set of ten reproducing photographs of<br />

children performing tricks, Nancy, [1903]; one of a man performing<br />

the three card trick on an opened umbrella, Paris, [1903]; seven<br />

cards depicting Indian jugglers, snake charmers and acrobats,<br />

[c.1900-1910]; two of Punch and Judy shows in Paris and Rhyll,<br />

1908 and 1913; together with a carte-de-visite portrait of a young<br />

boy with his collection of apparatus; two stereoscopic views, one<br />

of a child performing for others, the children dressed to resemble<br />

those in the Testu & Massin trade cards, [c.1880], the other a posed<br />

scene with conjuror, strongman and others apparently from the play<br />

“L’Escamoteur”, [c.1900?]; and others including a carte-de-visite<br />

portrait of Nadar, and seven other photographic portraits of Cham,<br />

354. Puzzle sheet. “qu e s O rt i r a-t-iL D e C e gO B e L e t” (La Papillote<br />

no.20), lithograph of a cup, ball and wand, the top rising to reveal a<br />

standing figure and a set of demands below the caption “Paix a tout<br />

prix”, coloured by hand, in heavy card mount, 295mm. by 232mm.,<br />

[Paris, 1834?]. £125 - £175<br />

355. re B u s Ca r D s, 16 engraved cards, printed on thin paper in<br />

various colours, one hand-coloured within elaborate border, pasted<br />

onto a quarto sheet within ruled ink framework, slightly stained,<br />

230mm. by 180mm., [France, c.1800]. £200 - £300<br />

*** The cards appear to come from different sets, each with<br />

syllables replaced with miniature illustrations. On five cards the<br />

text appears below a large illustration, one of which is a conjuror<br />

performing with cups and balls.<br />

356. re B u s s h e e t s, three lithographed sheets, each with 50<br />

illustrations, one after Daumier, [c.1840]; the others published by<br />

Gecon et Cie, Lyon, for 1846; and Aurosset, Lyon, [c.1850]; with<br />

a similar sheet titled Fantaisies Diverses, Metz, Gangel, [c.1855],<br />

average size 410mm. by 255mm. (4) £200 - £300<br />

*** The illustrations include a conjuror on each sheet and other<br />
