*** Fred Russell [Thomas Frederick Parnell] appeared on the bill<br />

with his famous Comrade Coster Joe, considered to be the first<br />

knee-sitting vent. doll. He first performed professionally in 1886,<br />

and became known as the Father of Modern Ventriloquism. Other<br />

performers on the bill include the comedian James Fawn and My<br />

Fancy, the Queen of Sand Dancers.<br />
