Ron Mazza, M.Eng., LEED AP, P.Eng.<br />
Principal RJC<br />
Ron has over thirty five years’ experience in structural design, and now leads the firm’s sustainable<br />
design initiatives. He enjoys collaborating with a design team to develop creative structural solutions<br />
that work for a building in its entirety. After graduating from the University of Toronto, where he was<br />
awarded a National Research Council Scholarship, Ron earned a Master of Engineering degree from the University<br />
of British Columbia specializing in structures. He joined RJC’s Toronto office in 1975.<br />
Paul Mikolich, Chair, Jurors Panel<br />
Marketing and Government Relations Manager, Gerdau Ameristeel<br />
Mr. Mikolich has twenty five years of steel industry experience. In 2008 Paul’s role changed to<br />
Marketing and Government relations for the Canadian operations. Prior to that, Mr. Mikolich held<br />
various positions with Gerdau Ameristeel, with two of the three Canadian operations. Mr. Mikolich is<br />
currently on the board of directors for the Whitby Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Institute of Steel Construction,<br />
Steel Structures Education Foundation and Ontario Chapter of the Metal Service Centre Institute.<br />
Joanne McCall, P. Eng.<br />
Vice President for Bridges and Structures, Delcan<br />
Ms. McCall is a structural engineer by profession, and has a background in design and project<br />
management of bridges, marine structures, and other structures related to transportation<br />
infrastructure. Ms. McCall is experienced in a range of specialty structures including movable<br />
bridges, transit structures, and architectural footbridges, all with a strong focus on steel design and construction.<br />
Steven Ploeger, M.Arch., B.Tech. (Arch.), OAA, MRAIC, Assoc. AIA, NSAA, LEED AP<br />
Principal, Perkins+Will Canada<br />
Steven is a Principal and the Science + Technology Market Sector Leader at the Toronto office of<br />
Perkins+Will Canada. With over twenty two years experience in architectural management and<br />
professional consulting, he has led the office’s growth in the design and construction of major<br />
pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects, laboratory projects, law enforcement and academic projects. Steven is<br />
currently the Principal-in-Charge of the Trent University Health & Life Sciences Project as well as the University of<br />
Guelph School of Engineering Revitalization Project.<br />
