It was established on 1 April 2008 by the <strong>Statistics</strong> and Registration Service Act 2007. The Authority’s overall objective is to promote and safeguard the production and publication <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial statistics that serve the public good. The Authority is accordingly required to promote and safeguard the quality and comprehensiveness <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial statistics, and good practice in relation to <strong>of</strong>ficial statistics.
