are not really ignorant—they are <strong>of</strong>ten working from old beliefs or their own<br />
experiences. The ability to answer these common questions insures a greater<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> the pediatric dental issues at hand and creates a positive<br />
relationship through effective communications. This program is based on<br />
questions routinely heard from parents <strong>of</strong> pediatric dental patients and covers<br />
a broad spectrum <strong>of</strong> topics. Included are primary anterior trauma, treatment<br />
planning, “rotten teeth,” timing <strong>of</strong> initial examinations and more. The scientific<br />
basis and the rationales for treatment is a significant part <strong>of</strong> the lecture.<br />
Practitioners who treat children will benefit from this engaging course.<br />

Greg Psaltis, DDS received his BA from Stanford <strong>University</strong> in 1970, his<br />
DDS from the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> California, San Francisco, School <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dentistry</strong>, in<br />
1975, and his specialty certification in Pediatric <strong>Dentistry</strong> from UCSF in 1977.<br />
He has been a pediatric dentist for 34 years, the last 28 in private practice in<br />
Olympia, Washington. In addition to enjoying his practice, Dr. Psaltis lectures<br />
<strong>of</strong>ten on pediatric dental topics, practice management and communication<br />
skills. His unique speaking style reflects his years <strong>of</strong> experience and his keen<br />
observations, thus making his programs both informative and entertaining.<br />

Inhalation and Oral Sedation in <strong>Dentistry</strong><br />

This two part hands-on course <strong>of</strong>fers instruction in all aspects <strong>of</strong> inhalation<br />
analgesia, including effective methods in dealing with anxiety control in general<br />
practice. Participants will learn various techniques and will have the opportunity<br />
to try several types <strong>of</strong> systems.<br />
Part 1 (Friday and Saturday) is designed to achieve certification in nitrous<br />
oxide/oxygen sedation and Part 2 (Sunday) is designed for those who have<br />
successfully completed Part 1 or have previously completed a certification<br />
course in nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation (documentation required) or have<br />
completed an undergraduate program.<br />
