46th Annual General Meeting of DSE held
The Board of Directors of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd. at AGM has elected its
President, Senior Vice President and Vice President today.
Mr. Md. Abdullah Bokhari, President of Dhaka Stock Exchange is addressing the 46th Annual General
Meeting (AGM) of DSE held on May 15, 2008. Other Directors are seen in the picture.
Mr. Abdul Haque and Mr. Saiful Islam have been elected as President and Senior
Vice President respectively and according to the unanimous decision of the Board of
Directors of DSE Mr. Sharif Ataur Rahman has been re-elected as Vice President.
Before that the 46th AGM of DSE was held in a local hotel with DSE Chief Executive
Officer Professor Salahuddin Ahmed Khan in the presentation. Many members of
DSE were present at the meeting. DSE President Mr. Abdullah Bokhari presided over
the meeting. The members present at the meeting approved the agenda of AGM,
Directors' Report, Audited Financial Accounts and Audited Accounts and also
accepted newly elected Directors Mr. Saiful Islam, Ms. Lailun Nahar Ekram, Mr.
Masudul Haque and Mr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin Chowdhury as new directors
instead of outgoing Directors Mr. Ahmad Rashid Lali, Mr. Kazi Firoz Rashid, Mr.
Khwaja Ghulam Rasul and Mr. N.U.M Oliullah.

President, Vice President are given below:
Newly Elected President of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd.
Mr. Abdul Haque
Mr. Abdul Haque, newly elected President of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd., a
prominent businessman and renowned industrialist, is the Chairman of Royel Green
Securities Ltd. and Managing Director of Evergreen Group of Companies.
He has been elected Director of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd., prime bourse of the
country, in the year 2007. He was elected Senior Vice President on March 28, 2002
and contributed immensely to the development of the capital market related activities
with absolute sincerity and integrity. He was also a councillor of DSE from 1987 to
1995. He also served the country’s prime bourse as Vice Chairman during 1995-1997.
Mr. Haque is the founding Chairman of private satellite TV channel Banglavision. He
was also the Chairman of Mercantile Insurance Co. Ltd. for six consecutive year,
2001-2007.
This eminent business personality and benign philanthropist was a member of the
Prime Minister’s entourage during state visit to Japan. This gigantic personality has
visited USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Egypt, Turkey and also participated in many
seminars and workshops as a member of the Capital Market Investors Forum.
With the sole vision of developing trade and business opportunities in Dyes and
Chemicals He visited Germany, Switzerland, France, Australia, Austria, Taiwan,
China, Turkey, India, Malaysia and many other countries. In the sophisticated motive
of augmenting the flow of business in Dyeng and Chemicals this giant industrial
figure also attended many international workshops and meetings.
With a view to enlightening the mental domain of young learners in the sacred motive
of educating the whole nation this benevolent man donates to many educational
institutions.

Newly Elected Senior Vice President of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd.
Mr. Saiful Islam
Mr. Saiful Islam, newly elected director of the country’s oldest and prime bourse-
Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd., is a career professional in the investment banking
industry in Bangladesh. Mr. Islam served the DSE as director during March 2003 to
January 2006 and made meaningful contribution to the development of Securities
Market in Bangladesh. Starting his career as a banker at Standard Chartered Bank he
also served other multinational financial institutions. He is currently holding the
Managing Director position of Equity Partners Securities Limited and a sponsor
Director of Equity Partners – a majority foreign owned investment bank. Through his
farsightedness and far-flung knowledge combined with gen-studded information the
DSE will surely get the proper direction toward reaching the targeted goal in days
ahead. Considering his first hand experience in the domain of Capital Market it can be
assumed that his visionary leadership and goal-oriented activities will surely produce
effective result for the DSE and potential investors currently rushing toward
Securities Market.
Re-elected Vice President of Dhaka Stock Exchange Ltd.
Mr. Sharif Ataur Rahman
Mr. Sharif Ataur Rahman has been re-elected Vice President of the Dhaka Stock
Exchange Limited uncontested today at the DSE Board of Directors for the next two
years. He came off a respectable Muslim family in 1955. In 1980 he started this
intelligence-based profession. Getting membership in 1980 at the country’s prime
bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange he started a brokerage house in the name of Sharif
Ataur Rahman and Co (now SAR Securities). He has active and vital roles in the in
reform and modernisation of capital market in Bangladesh. He served the DSE during
2001-2004 as Councilor/Director and again in 2005 took the responsibility as
Director. He was elected Vice President for the year of 2007.
Mr. Sharif Ataur Rahman attended many conferences, seminars and training
programme on capital market held in many countries in the world. He visited New
York, Australia, Korea and Bombay Stock Exchanges.
In personal life he is engaged in many social activities and during the leisure he
remains busy with games and sports. He is the proud father of two daughters.
