<strong>46th</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>General</strong> <strong>Meeting</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>DSE</strong> <strong>held</strong><br />
The Board <strong>of</strong> Directors <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> Ltd. at AGM has elected its<br />
President, Senior Vice President and Vice President today.<br />
Mr. Md. Abdullah Bokhari, President <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> is addressing the <strong>46th</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>General</strong><br />
<strong>Meeting</strong> (AGM) <strong>of</strong> <strong>DSE</strong> <strong>held</strong> on May 15, 2008. Other Directors are seen in the picture.<br />
Mr. Abdul Haque and Mr. Saiful Islam have been elected as President and Senior<br />
Vice President respectively and according to the unanimous decision <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Directors <strong>of</strong> <strong>DSE</strong> Mr. Sharif Ataur Rahman has been re-elected as Vice President.<br />
Before that the <strong>46th</strong> AGM <strong>of</strong> <strong>DSE</strong> was <strong>held</strong> in a local hotel with <strong>DSE</strong> Chief Executive<br />
Officer Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Salahuddin Ahmed Khan in the presentation. Many members <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>DSE</strong> were present at the meeting. <strong>DSE</strong> President Mr. Abdullah Bokhari presided over<br />
the meeting. The members present at the meeting approved the agenda <strong>of</strong> AGM,<br />
Directors' Report, Audited Financial Accounts and Audited Accounts and also<br />
accepted newly elected Directors Mr. Saiful Islam, Ms. Lailun Nahar Ekram, Mr.<br />
Masudul Haque and Mr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin Chowdhury as new directors<br />
instead <strong>of</strong> outgoing Directors Mr. Ahmad Rashid Lali, Mr. Kazi Firoz Rashid, Mr.<br />
Khwaja Ghulam Rasul and Mr. N.U.M Oliullah.<br />

Newly Elected President <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> Ltd.<br />
Mr. Abdul Haque<br />
Mr. Abdul Haque, newly elected President <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> Ltd., a<br />
prominent businessman and renowned industrialist, is the Chairman <strong>of</strong> Royel Green<br />
Securities Ltd. and Managing Director <strong>of</strong> Evergreen Group <strong>of</strong> Companies.<br />
He has been elected Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> Ltd., prime bourse <strong>of</strong> the<br />
country, in the year 2007. He was elected Senior Vice President on March 28, 2002<br />
and contributed immensely to the development <strong>of</strong> the capital market related activities<br />
with absolute sincerity and integrity. He was also a councillor <strong>of</strong> <strong>DSE</strong> from 1987 to<br />
1995. He also served the country’s prime bourse as Vice Chairman during 1995-1997.<br />
Mr. Haque is the founding Chairman <strong>of</strong> private satellite TV channel Banglavision. He<br />
was also the Chairman <strong>of</strong> Mercantile Insurance Co. Ltd. for six consecutive year,<br />
2001-2007.<br />
This eminent business personality and benign philanthropist was a member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Prime Minister’s entourage during state visit to Japan. This gigantic personality has<br />
visited USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Egypt, Turkey and also participated in many<br />
seminars and workshops as a member <strong>of</strong> the Capital Market Investors Forum.<br />
With the sole vision <strong>of</strong> developing trade and business opportunities in Dyes and<br />
Chemicals He visited Germany, Switzerland, France, Australia, Austria, Taiwan,<br />
China, Turkey, India, Malaysia and many other countries. In the sophisticated motive<br />
<strong>of</strong> augmenting the flow <strong>of</strong> business in Dyeng and Chemicals this giant industrial<br />
figure also attended many international workshops and meetings.<br />
With a view to enlightening the mental domain <strong>of</strong> young learners in the sacred motive<br />
<strong>of</strong> educating the whole nation this benevolent man donates to many educational<br />
institutions.

Mr. Saiful Islam<br />
Mr. Saiful Islam, newly elected director <strong>of</strong> the country’s oldest and prime bourse-<br />
<strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> Ltd., is a career pr<strong>of</strong>essional in the investment banking<br />
industry in Bangladesh. Mr. Islam served the <strong>DSE</strong> as director during March 2003 to<br />
January 2006 and made meaningful contribution to the development <strong>of</strong> Securities<br />
Market in Bangladesh. Starting his career as a banker at Standard Chartered Bank he<br />
also served other multinational financial institutions. He is currently holding the<br />
Managing Director position <strong>of</strong> Equity Partners Securities Limited and a sponsor<br />
Director <strong>of</strong> Equity Partners – a majority foreign owned investment bank. Through his<br />
farsightedness and far-flung knowledge combined with gen-studded information the<br />
<strong>DSE</strong> will surely get the proper direction toward reaching the targeted goal in days<br />
ahead. Considering his first hand experience in the domain <strong>of</strong> Capital Market it can be<br />
assumed that his visionary leadership and goal-oriented activities will surely produce<br />
effective result for the <strong>DSE</strong> and potential investors currently rushing toward<br />
Securities Market.<br />
Re-elected Vice President <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> Ltd.<br />
Mr. Sharif Ataur Rahman<br />
Mr. Sharif Ataur Rahman has been re-elected Vice President <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong><br />
<strong>Exchange</strong> Limited uncontested today at the <strong>DSE</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Directors for the next two<br />
years. He came <strong>of</strong>f a respectable Muslim family in 1955. In 1980 he started this<br />
intelligence-based pr<strong>of</strong>ession. Getting membership in 1980 at the country’s prime<br />
bourse <strong>Dhaka</strong> <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong> he started a brokerage house in the name <strong>of</strong> Sharif<br />
Ataur Rahman and Co (now SAR Securities). He has active and vital roles in the in<br />
reform and modernisation <strong>of</strong> capital market in Bangladesh. He served the <strong>DSE</strong> during<br />
2001-2004 as Councilor/Director and again in 2005 took the responsibility as<br />
Director. He was elected Vice President for the year <strong>of</strong> 2007.<br />
Mr. Sharif Ataur Rahman attended many conferences, seminars and training<br />
programme on capital market <strong>held</strong> in many countries in the world. He visited New<br />
York, Australia, Korea and Bombay <strong>Stock</strong> <strong>Exchange</strong>s.<br />
In personal life he is engaged in many social activities and during the leisure he<br />
remains busy with games and sports. He is the proud father <strong>of</strong> two daughters.<br />
