La Moda di Primavera 2008
The Ladies Auxiliary held their annual fashion show on March 15, 2008. The fashion show was coordinated by
Jill Wax and the staff of La France. This year the show was held in the ballroom of our own L’Unione Italiana
which corresponded with our vintage theme. The ballroom was elegantly decorated through the creativity of
Auxiliary members Barbara Pool, Gilda Capitano, Cathy Guagliardo, and Cathy Pacheco. The stage backdrop
featured a panoramic view of Ybor and the stage showcased a display of vintage clothing loaned for viewing by
our members. Models were Angela Buttocovolo, Christina Capitano, Joe Capitano, Jr., Cathy Guagliardo,
Charles Heath, Rita Messina, Sandra Moreno, Alice Mueller, Stephanie Petrucelli, Maria Pardo, Dottie Smay,
and Stephanie Van Belzen. The models were representatives of the Krewe of Italia, the Ladies Auxiliary, and
our current board of directors. The luncheon was catered by Waylon Nelson of Wayl of a Time Catering. The
day began with browsing and shopping at our vendor’s boutiques and a silent auction. Thanks to the generous
donations of our members and business partners the auction was a huge success. Guests were treated to door
prizes and a beautiful grand prize donated by Guiseppe Maniscalco of Portofino Jewelers. The day provided a
wondrous adventure uniting friends, fashions, shopping, and food.
