President’s Message
Dear Members,
I would like to thank each and every one of you who came out and
volunteered their time for our annual Sorrento Cheese Festa Italiana
presented by Bolla. As usual, Joseph Capitano, Jr. and Stephanie Petrucelli
did an outstanding job with the planning and preparations for this year’s
Festa. As you all know, Festa is our largest fundraiser of the year and
without all the volunteered hours by our members and the community, we
would not be able to put on such a large event.
The parking lot has been completed! The landscaping, irrigation, lighting,
as well as installing the second meter machine have all been completed.
Please take a moment the next time you go to the Club and relish the
beautiful parking lot we have been working on for months. Don’t forget
that Italian Club members receive a parking discount for Club events when
they show the parking attendant their membership card. The 2008 cards
have been mailed out.
Some of our Club members attended, as a group, the Vatican Splendors
exhibit in St. Petersburg mid April. I would like to encourage members to
attend the different cultural experiences our committees put together. The
Ybor City museum has put together a Sicilian display and will be hosting
different lectures at the Club relating to that display. Keep your eyes open
for informational emails!
I would like to congratulate Rick Califano on another successful Sunday
Family Dinner. This last one we had in April featured the Parma region.
Chef Waylon did an outstanding job selecting foods of that region. There
were around 100 people in attendance. It was nice to see all the Club
members who brought in their group of friends and family members to
enjoy a Sunday afternoon.
Summer is right around the corner and I know everyone will be slowing
things down a bit, but I would like to remind everyone about Happy Hour.
Come out and meet some new people. The membership committee has
started assigning committee members to attend each Friday night to
introduce themselves to new members and new faces. Don’t hesitate to
ask, or approach them, with any questions you might have.
