Virginia Military Institute 12-13 Catalogue MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CURRICULUM DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTIVES Electives are chosen by the cadet in consultation with the faculty adviser and subject to the distribution shown below. TECHNICAL ELECTIVES Elective Nine (9) hours minimum course work selected from ME, CE, EE, CS, MA, PY, CH, or BI which contribute to the quality of the cadet’s program. Selection of appropriate courses must be approved by the adviser in consultation with the mechanical engineering department head. Civilization and Cultures Electives Six (6) hours must be selected from the approved list of Civilization and Cultures courses. A three (3) credit-hour course selected from 200-level or higher. Courses in the 100-level may be selected in Modern Languages. Math/Science Elective A three (3) credit-hour course selected from 200 level or higher mathematics (except MA 330WX) or an approved science course from BI, CH, or PY 65
