• While only 21% of locals expressed that tourism increased<br />

purchasing capacity whereas 62% of locals said that it is not.<br />

• 59%of people when opined that tourism has created space for<br />

exposure to other culture for local people, 24 % of people have<br />

expressed that tourism has not created such a space.<br />

• 64% of locals said that improper land use the result of tourism<br />

development in Masinagudi, 68% articulates that tourism has<br />

caused pollution, 58% conveys that it resulted in to ground water<br />

depletion, 35.5 % utters that it has obstructed elephant corridor,<br />

21 % opines that tourists behave in ugly manner, 39% said that<br />

tourism development has caused destruction of forest and loss of<br />

biodiversity, 40% said that tourism has created a situation in which<br />

the price of essential commodities has increased alarmingly, 55%<br />

said that it has created changes in employment pattern,<br />

44%expressed that it has lead to the influx of migrant population<br />

and 66% said that pressures have been created due to tourism.<br />

• Only 25 %ofresorts in Masinagudi owned by locals and 75% owned<br />

by non-locals.<br />

• The clientele proposition is that 33.32% are foreign tourists and<br />

66.68% are domestic tourists.<br />

• 0.4 % foreign tourist visits repeatedly and 0.2% only visits<br />

repeatedly.<br />

• The duration of stay of foreign tourists is minimum 2.21 days and<br />

maximum 4 days.<br />

• The duration of stay of domestic tourists is minimum 1 .73 days and<br />

maximum 3 days.<br />

• 50% of resort owners report that they are engaging travel agents for<br />

promotion of tourist arrivals and 555 employ brochures for the<br />

promotion, 35% use web sites for their business promotion,<br />

15%use newspapers advertisements.<br />
