PTA Indications (extremity PTA) 1. Lifestyle-limiting limiting claudication. 2. Critical ischemia (rest pain, ulcer, gangrene). 3. To increase inflow or outflow prior to or after bypass surgery. 4. Bypass graft stenosis. The balloon diameter should be equal to the adjacent normal vessel diameter.
PTA Contraindications (extremity PTA) Absolute 1. Patient is medically unstable. 2. Stenosis is not hemodynamically significant. 3. Stenosis is immediately adjacent to an aneurysm. 4. Ulcerative disease with evidence of distal embolization is present.
