The <strong>Westchester</strong> <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> and its ten Attachments provide the Task Force’s<br />
recommendations as to how to move forward to address climate change and sustainable<br />
development in <strong>Westchester</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />
The <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> provides the road map to translate the <strong>County</strong> Executive’s vision into<br />
climate change and sustainability performance in the Community of <strong>Westchester</strong>.<br />
Summaries of actions for each sector – <strong>County</strong> government, municipal government,<br />
education, business, and households – are also provided. Within the summaries,<br />
timeframes are proposed for the actions.<br />
Attachments<br />
The Attachments provide the detailed information that supports the <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>. Included<br />
in the Attachments to the <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> are specific attachments that address Energy<br />
(including green buildings), Transportation, Land Use, Water Resources, and Waste<br />
Reduction, Recycling and Green Purchasing. Each of these Attachments starts with a brief<br />
review of the current situation in <strong>Westchester</strong> <strong>County</strong>. This is followed by an overview of<br />
the proposed strategy to move to a more sustainable future in the Community of<br />
<strong>Westchester</strong>. Next, recommended actions that can be taken to directly reduce GHG<br />
emissions, adapt to climate change and support sustainable development are provided.<br />
Finally, actions are recommended that will support the Community of <strong>Westchester</strong> in<br />
developing the capacity to implement the recommended direct actions. This may include<br />
adding resources, leading by example, educating, and information sharing. Boxed text<br />
within the Attachments offers information on the meaning of climate change terms,<br />
examples that demonstrate what others have done and detailed recommendations.<br />
Information in the Attachments may apply to some or all sectors. The information has<br />
been coded to indicate the sector(s) to which they apply, as follows:<br />
