Distributor Sight Check Guidelines<br />
Compressors<br />
1. Crankshafts – Look for:<br />
Damaged locknut threads caused<br />
by pulley puller<br />
Damaged locknut threads evident<br />
by pulled threads caused by over<br />
torquing or corrosion<br />
Damaged key slot caused by loose<br />
drive hubs/pulleys<br />
2. Crankcases – Look for:<br />
Broken flange mounting surfaces<br />
caused by mishandling<br />
Broken or cracked sides caused by<br />
a rotating broken connecting rod<br />
Broken base flange caused by<br />
mishandling<br />
3. Heads – Look for:<br />
Damaged water port threads caused<br />
by over torquing or corrosion<br />
Freeze cracks around water ports<br />
4. Complete core – Look for:<br />
Excessive corrosion or obvious long<br />
periods of non-use. <strong>Core</strong> should<br />
appear as if they are of an "off<br />
engine condition"<br />
5. Damage by non-operational causes such as fire,<br />
rust or rough handling<br />
Applicable Credit:<br />
a. If none of the above conditions exist,<br />
full credit is applicable.<br />
b. If one of the above conditions exist,<br />
seventy percent (70%) credit is applicable.<br />
c. If two of the above conditions exist,<br />
thirty percent (30%) credit is applicable.<br />
d. If more than two of the above<br />
conditions exist, no credit is applicable.<br />
e. NO CREDIT is applicable for a<br />
disassembled compressor, excessive rust<br />
or damage by fire.<br />
