Shortly prior to Brother Russell's death he removed<br />
Brother htchie from the -management of the office and<br />
laced him at rome work at the Bethel home, and placed<br />
brother Martin as oflice manager.<br />

1916, will be of inter*:<br />
'The following ruolutioo was presented to the<br />
Board by Brother Isaac Hoskins, to wit:<br />
"WHmw,.Putor C T. Russell, the President of<br />
this Corporabon, on the 16th day of October, 1916,<br />
re<strong>org</strong>anized the working force of the office at 17<br />
Hidu St, and also the work at the Bethel Home on<br />
Columbia Heights, and designated certain persons to<br />
be in chaqe of the respective departments of the<br />
work, to wit:<br />
"Brother A. I. Ritchie to lave the oversight of<br />
the Lib- Office; the Parlor, and a11 visitors on<br />
important business at the Bethel Home, etc: to<br />
handle ruch mail as. may be addressee to Brother<br />
RusseU: md to receive telegrams;<br />
"Brother R J. Martin to have rupervision over<br />
the oaice force and the work at the Tabernade at<br />
17, Hicks St;<br />
'Brother J. L Cooke as Superintendent of the<br />
Angdophone Company Pnd the work in connection<br />
therewith;<br />
"Brother Emen to have charge of the seating<br />
of the Bethel Famdy at the tabla. and the ciare of<br />
the bakiinu for the Family, under the supervision of<br />
Brother Macmillm ;<br />
"Brother Baker, under the supervision of Brother<br />
Macmdlan to have the cue of dl the food supplies<br />
for ~ethJ iduding cod, butter, etc; also of the<br />
laundry, khchen, cellar; and such other work u may<br />
be directed by Brother Macrnilhn:<br />
"Sister Roberts to have supervision of the Bahel<br />
affairs as Matron, and to take supervision of the<br />
sisters and the work in the dining room and the<br />
house work in neneral, except the parlor; under the<br />

"Brother +skin moved the adopnon of the<br />
reaolution, wh~ch bang seconded by Brother Pierson,<br />
was unanimously adopted by the Board.<br />
"Motion was made b Brother Van Amburgh, and<br />
seconded by Brother klripk Lot rother A. H.<br />
Macmillan be appointed to the pos~t~on of Representative<br />
of the Executive Committee, to perform<br />
such duties as said Executive Committee shall direct,<br />
and to report to 'said committee from time to time<br />
upon request. Unanimously carried."<br />
Among other changer, Brother Russell took Brothci<br />
Hoskins out of the Colporteur Department, and assigned hin r<br />
to other work. He brought Brother Maernillan in off a<br />
Pilgrim journey and uked him to take chug of the office<br />
work 4s Gcnerrl Supervisor and as the Presldurt's .reprerentative<br />
in ail tlrlngr about the work of the Society at<br />
headquarters. We here produce his letter to Brother<br />
Maanillan as well as a fac-simile of his autograph letter to<br />
the Tabernade md Bethel force, also a letter of htruction<br />
to Brother Martin, who succeeded Brother Ritchie as<br />
Office Manager.<br />

THE LORD'S BLESSING HAS FOLLOWED<br />
Brother Mamillan accepted this position as Astistant to<br />
the President and has performed his duties well, and through<br />
the &ienq of himself and Brother Martin in carrying<br />
out instruchons which Rother Russell gave a-short time<br />
before his departure, the office to-day is on a strrct efficiency<br />
basis and is managed better than it has ever heretofore bem,<br />
to my bowledge.. The whole office is happy and harmonious<br />
and dolng splendrd work After my election -as President I<br />
deemed it the Lord's will that I should keep everyone in the<br />
position where Brother Russell bad placed him, if possible.<br />
'Hence Brother Macmillan was appointed to the same position<br />
he held with Brother Rtissell. and he has proven faithful<br />
and loyal. Brothers Hoskins and Hirsh brought to me complaints<br />
aminst Brother Macmillan. When I went into the<br />
office as President I made the rule to receive no accusations<br />
against a brother or siler unless the one accused was<br />
present to defend himself or herself. I so announced this<br />
rule to Brother Hirah, and said to him, "If you desire to
