Bradford Teaching Hospitals’ year-long
drive to improve patient safety is entering
its final six months as staff strive to keep the
Foundation Trust at the forefront of quality
healthcare.
The SAFE! Campaign, which began in May
and is being led by the Medical Director
and Chief Nurse aims to help maintain the
Foundation Trust’s position as one of the
country’s safest hospitals.
Each month there will be a focus on a
specific topic related to different aspects of
safety and the patient’s journey whilst in our
care.
Deputy Chief Nurse, Sally Scales, said: “We are
concentrating on topics which patients have
told us are important, as well as areas where
we would like to make improvements. The
Welcome to
Firstly, thanks to all of you who braved
the stormy weather to join myself and our
Governors at our AGM and fifth annual
Open Event on September 15.
These were the keynote events that
took place during the Foundation Trust’s
annual ‘week of special events’ which
in total attracted 2,750 attendees. A
number of events provided opportunities
for visitors to find out more about new
service developments and key projects and
campaigns aimed at improving patients’
experiences which are taking place here
at our hospitals; while awards ceremonies
paid tribute to our staff and volunteers for
their hard work and commitment to our
organisation over the years. Please see our
special report on the events which starts
on page 8. This edition also includes the
Foundation Trust’s 2009/2010 review where
you can find out more about how we got
on during the last financial year.
This month’s Focus also includes a special
section on our historical relationship with
Sovereign Health Care who have, over the
years, provided significant donations from
their Charitable Trust to key developments
here at our Foundation Trust. You can read
about the support they provide annually for
our ‘Team of the Year’ and ‘Hospital Oscars’
topics are also based on national guidelines
and patient safety initiatives.
“We hope that through Safe! patient safety
will be improved, and that the quality of our
care will increase even further to help us to
maintain our position as one of the safest
hospitals in the country.”
The topics covered so far in the
campaign are as follows:
