Keukenh<strong>of</strong> Awards<br />
Bouvardias and Carn<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
Keukenh<strong>of</strong>’s Bouvardia Show<br />
proved th<strong>at</strong> even a small flower<br />
can have a huge potential. The<br />
event coincided with the <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />
launch <strong>of</strong> the high pr<strong>of</strong>ile<br />
Bouvardia-Make-Every-Moment-<br />
Special campaign.<br />
In the VKC Quality Competition<br />
breeding company Royal van<br />
Zanten, which acquired the Bouvardia<br />
nursery <strong>of</strong> John de Jong in<br />
Roel<strong>of</strong>arendsveen in 2009, took<br />
home the Keukenh<strong>of</strong> Awardfor<br />
their Bouvardia ‘Diamond<br />
Darkpink’ (9.48 points), while<br />
Bouvardia grower Jaap Vreeken<br />
from Rijsenhout ended second<br />
with his ‘Royal Daphe Fresco’,<br />
which was good for 9.36 points.<br />
The Bouvardia Show ran parallel<br />
to the Carn<strong>at</strong>ion Show where<br />
grower Zuurbier form Heerhugowaard<br />
was presented with the<br />
Keukenh<strong>of</strong> Carn<strong>at</strong>ion Award<br />
for their standard carn<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
‘Hilnotre Notre Dame’. In spray<br />
carn<strong>at</strong>ions grower André van<br />
Kester took the first prize with<br />
his Dianthus ‘White<br />
Fleurette’(9.48 points).<br />

Exotic Phalaenopsis beauty.<br />
Orchids<br />
In large flowered cut Cymbidium<br />
grower Ronald Ammerlaan<br />
took home the first prize with<br />
his orange ‘Manon’ which was<br />
given 9.50 points, while in small<br />
flowered Cymbidium grower Leo<br />
v.d. Helm from Nootdorp was<br />
presented with an Award for his<br />
‘Sultan’. In potted Cymbidium<br />
Ruiter Orchids form Andijk took<br />
home an award for its ‘Dorothy<br />
Stockstill’ (9.40 points).<br />
In large flowered potted Phalae-<br />
nopsis Piko Plant from Nootdorp<br />
swept the boards by occupying the<br />
first five places in the VKC Quality<br />
Competition.. Piko’s ‘Fancy’ was<br />
recognised as overall winner and<br />
was good for a Keukenh<strong>of</strong> Award.<br />
In small flowered potted Phalaenopsis<br />
grower Pannekoek from Berkel<br />
and Rodenrijs won the first prize<br />
for their ‘Tiny Doll’. The VKC jury<br />
praised this Phalaenopsis for its<br />
sturdy long stems, uniform flowering<br />
and perfect growth habit. |||<br />
