Dear Fellow Ohioan:
July 2010
This year’s Ohio Election Guide contains more data than
ever. In fact, complete district demographic data is now
contained in tables on pages 178–183. This change creates
sufficient room on the district pages for all candidates for
office. The Guide formerly identified only the two major
party candidates; this year, there are more “other” party
candidates in many races; we chose to include them. It’s a
sign of the times of an ever-changing political environment
and the living nature of our democracy.
We have brought back—and updated—the comprehensive
economic data by district. This data shows the effect of the
economy on Ohio’s jobs. There continues to be no more
pressing issue than the economy and how we will supply
good-paying jobs for all the Ohioans who need them.
The candidates who are running for election on
November 2 are stepping up to a daunting task. To lead
in this turbulent time is a job for which we cannot express
enough gratitude. Our American way of life would be
ruined without these men and women serving in these
critical public service roles with integrity and dedication.
Therefore, we salute all candidates for elected office and
wish you luck. We urge all Ohioans to use this Guide and
other resources to become informed and vote. While there’s
always more we can do as citizens, there’s no less that we
should do than vote.
