What’s new<br />

We are very proud to be the new owners of<br />

the <strong>Locktronics</strong> range of products for teaching<br />

electricity and electronics. In the short time we<br />

have owned the range we have made many<br />

improvements, and in this catalogue you can<br />

see our plans for the further changes we will<br />

be making to the range in 2010.<br />

<strong>Locktronics</strong> is one of the strongest brands for<br />

learning electricity in the World. Its easily<br />

recognisable green carrier components are<br />

used in more than 10,000 schools for teaching<br />

science and engineering. Over the coming<br />

years we will update the entire range and<br />

expand it into new areas of teaching and<br />

learning.<br />

Matrix is a new company to most <strong>Locktronics</strong><br />

users. Our company is at the forefront of<br />

technical education in the fields of electronics<br />

and technology. We are particularly strong<br />

in microcontroller development and control<br />

technology. You can see some of our other<br />

products in this area on page 24. The marriage<br />

of Matrix’s existing technologies with the<br />

<strong>Locktronics</strong> range will allow us to develop a<br />

world class suite of solutions that simplifies<br />

electricity and electronics for the next generation<br />

Choosing your package<br />

You can choose to have kits delivered in blister packs, containing just the<br />

carriers, or as complete solutions with storage trays, baseboards, power<br />

Three selector switches on the <strong>Locktronics</strong><br />

microcontroller allow students to make a<br />

choice of one of 8 programs built into the unit.<br />

Students then assemble the corresponding<br />

experiment. The 8 projects are: Logic<br />

control with an AND circuit, Logic control with<br />

an NAND circuit, Energy/current monitor,<br />

Students can progress further in the subject by<br />

using Flowcode software to design a program,<br />

simulate the program’s operation, and then<br />

The MIAC is a fully specified industrial grade<br />

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). It has 8<br />

analogue or digital inputs, 4 high current relay<br />

allows many units to be networked together.<br />

The MIAC is available in a rugged plastic case<br />

with all connections made available using 4mm<br />

shrouded ’banana’ sockets. The status of all<br />

I/O lines is indicated with an individual LED,<br />

and a keypad and 4 line 16 character display<br />

facilitate user interaction. The unit is<br />

programmed directly from a PC’s USB port<br />

FLOW<br />

NO CODING, NO LIMITS...<br />

Flowcode 4 is a simple-to-use graphical programming language for<br />

microcontrollers. The great advantage of Flowcode is that it allows those with<br />

little to no programming experience to create complex electronic systems in<br />

minutes. Flowcode is available in more than twenty languages and supports a<br />

range of microcontrollers and electronic systems.<br />

E-Blocks are small circuit boards each of which contains a block of<br />

electronics that you would typically find in an electronic or embedded system.<br />

There are more than 40 separate circuit boards in the range from simple LED<br />

boards to more complex boards like device programmers, Bluetooth and TCP/IP.<br />

E-blocks can be snapped together to form a wide variety of systems that can be<br />

used for teaching/learning electronics.<br />

MIAC is an industrial-grade programmable electronic controller which can be<br />

used to control a wide range of different electronic systems. It is programmable<br />

by Flowcode, C or Assembly and is used in education for learning about control,<br />

sensors, actuators and automotive applications.<br />

ECIO devices are powerful USB programmable microcontrollers with either<br />
