Who is eligible for these funds Adults with SMI (adults with serious mental illness)<br />

SAMHSA. Cl<strong>in</strong>ical services, recovery supports and prevention may also be provided to<br />

persons at risk for SMI and SED.<br />

What are the terms of coverage <strong>Services</strong> are provided for the duration of the need<br />

as determ<strong>in</strong>ed by the provider certified by state mental health agency.<br />

What is currently funded with these funds ODMH awarded $7.5 million to<br />

ADAMH/CMH Boards for provision of treatment services (CPST, counsel<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

pharmacological management), recovery supports (e.g. hous<strong>in</strong>g, employment & peer<br />

support) and prevention. The rema<strong>in</strong>der is awarded for system improvement projects<br />

for hous<strong>in</strong>g, advocacy, forensic, Coord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g Centers of Excellence.<br />

Service locations: Block Grant funded services are available <strong>in</strong> all 50 Board areas.<br />

CPS is currently an optional service, so not all Boards provide Certified <strong>Peer</strong> <strong>Support</strong><br />

<strong>Services</strong>.<br />

Which organization(s) makes fund<strong>in</strong>g decisions State agency determ<strong>in</strong>es what<br />

proportion of funds will be allocated to Boards, as well as what system improvement<br />

projects to fund. Boards make decisions on how fund<strong>in</strong>g will be used <strong>in</strong> their local<br />

communities.<br />

Issues <strong>in</strong> us<strong>in</strong>g this fund<strong>in</strong>g source: Mental Health Block Grant is a small fund<strong>in</strong>g<br />

stream that has been used to fund <strong>Ohio</strong> Empowerment Coalition which provides the<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and certification for Certified <strong>Peer</strong> Specialists.<br />

While Boards may choose to use Block Grant to fund Certified <strong>Peer</strong> <strong>Support</strong>, the grant<br />

is not large enough to fund Certified <strong>Peer</strong> <strong>Support</strong> <strong>in</strong> every Board area.<br />
