(6) Facilitate the PRP plann<strong>in</strong>g process by help<strong>in</strong>g the person:<br />

(a) Identify goals that are important to them;<br />

(b) Develop their specific plans for achiev<strong>in</strong>g goals; and<br />

(c) Develop their crisis well-be<strong>in</strong>g plan and how to use it.<br />

(7) Provid<strong>in</strong>g encouragement that pursu<strong>in</strong>g recovery is worth the effort by:<br />

(a) Assist<strong>in</strong>g a person <strong>in</strong> identify<strong>in</strong>g their personal benefits of engag<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> recovery;<br />

(b) Provid<strong>in</strong>g positive feedback to <strong>in</strong>still confidence <strong>in</strong> the pursuit of recovery goals;<br />

and/or<br />

(c) Encourag<strong>in</strong>g them to identify, verbalize and utilize personal strength.<br />

(8) Provid<strong>in</strong>g skill development <strong>in</strong> activities of daily liv<strong>in</strong>g and <strong>in</strong>terpersonal<br />

relationships.<br />

(9) Teach<strong>in</strong>g skills to effectively navigate the health care delivery system to effectively<br />

and efficiently utilize services.<br />

(10) Coord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g and l<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g to other community services.<br />

(D)PSS delivery shall consist of:<br />

(1) <strong>Services</strong> and activities identified <strong>in</strong> the PRP.<br />

(2) Service delivery to the person served and/or any essential other identified by the<br />

person who will assist <strong>in</strong> their recovery.<br />

(E) <strong>Peer</strong> support specialists shall create, update and implement a personalized professional<br />

development plan. Evidence that the plan is be<strong>in</strong>g actively followed shall be<br />

ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed. The plan shall address, at a m<strong>in</strong>imum, the follow<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

(1) Knowledge of the peer support purpose, <strong>in</strong>tent and activities.<br />

(2) Understand<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>dividualized recovery.<br />

(3) Cultural competency related to the population or populations to be served.<br />

(4) Methods of communicat<strong>in</strong>g hope.<br />

(5) Facilitat<strong>in</strong>g specific group peer education programs.<br />

(6) Ethics and patient protection.<br />

(F) <strong>Peer</strong> support specialists are people <strong>in</strong> recovery from mental illness and/or substance use<br />

disorder(s) (<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g pathological gambl<strong>in</strong>g) who are tra<strong>in</strong>ed and recognized as a certified<br />

peer specialist <strong>in</strong> good stand<strong>in</strong>g by the Department or its designee(s). <strong>Peer</strong> support<br />
