the gardens, walking the beaches and even<br />

vacation with Lea Hackett Hartman end her<br />

husband, Dean, and this year plan to cele<br />

brate the men's binhdays, which they share,<br />

Willett Pusey. She plans to spend her free<br />

time helping with a new grandbaby. Manetta<br />

liamsburg Va. <strong>The</strong> Rabushes see many WMC<br />

alumni throughout the year in both lcca<br />

nons, <strong>The</strong>ir family is doing well: five grand.<br />

children to keep them busy, Carol and Don<br />

started a foundation called Alpha J Kids to<br />

help families whose children are aff&ted<br />

with agenetic problem (liver failure). Don<br />

serves 00 the natiooal Alpha I Associat·ion<br />

Board. <strong>The</strong> Rabushes have gotten involved<br />

because they have discovered thaI Carol is<br />

an a·symptomatic Alpha and one of their<br />

grandsons is affected. Don's health scare<br />

with esophageal cancer has been sllrgically<br />

cured and he is feeling well.<br />

Louise Styche Rainis writes that she is<br />

down toone parHimejob, teachingal the<br />

Charleston Air force Base for Southern Hitnois<br />

University in a wcekend degreecompletion<br />

program for adults. This provides plenty<br />

of Aexibility and time for national and international<br />

travel. III the past few years, Louise<br />

has been to the Grand Canyon. Sante fe,<br />

N.M., Florida, Ohio, Pittsburgh, North Caro·<br />

Nassau. St. Thomas, Greece, Paris,<br />

Vienna and on an African safari.<br />

Louise says that years ago she bad hoped to<br />

goon a trip to Africa organized by Dr. Gris<br />

wold.but was unable togo at that time. Sbe<br />

said her trip to Tanzania in january '08 was<br />

incredible so she experienced some delayed<br />

gratification. Life is good inCharleston,S,c.,<br />

with many friends and neighbors that add to<br />

her busy social life.<br />

Ken Reifsniderand wife Martha have been<br />

living in Columbia, S.C., since june where<br />

Ken is the director of the Solid Oxide Fuel<br />

Cell Program at the University of South Car·<br />

cltna. He will be hiring several faculty mem<br />

bers and setting up a laboratory in a new<br />

building as part of their "future Fuels" ininaove.<br />

Ken and Martha are enjoying their<br />

home in the South. Ken has lectured insix<br />

countries since last june. <strong>The</strong> Reifsniders<br />

send best regards to all.<br />

Betty Beitll Rommel and husband john are<br />

the winter and return to Baltimore in late<br />

spring to golf. Betty is also busy with paint<br />

activities and support for the vice president<br />

of regfonal campuses at George Mason Unlversity.<br />

Husband Ray conducts IT research<br />

for a start-up company in Bethesda, Raill<br />

King.<br />

Kaystillplaysgolf,stililovesdancing,<br />

and still creates a party whenever there are<br />

four or more. She serves on the board ofdi<br />

rectors for the friends of the Center for Per·<br />

forming Arts at Ccorge Masonchairlng special<br />

events,fu,\d raising, and attending as<br />

many live performances as possible. She and<br />

Ray have become Lmcolnphiles since join·<br />

ingthe Lincoln Group of Washington, D,C.,<br />

where they have met scholars, historians, au·<br />

rhors, and ordinary folks who all admire<br />

Abraham Lincoln. All three of Kay's children,<br />

AI,S(ottWard'87 and Beth and seven gralld<br />

children live in the northern Virginia area;<br />

therefore, family gatherings are often, but<br />

never enougb. Some of Kay's favorite mo·<br />

ments are the one·on-one personal exeur·<br />

sions Wilh each grandchild and the planning<br />

of special even" for fnmilyand friends, such<br />

as a private guided tour of Abraham Lin·<br />

coIn's Washington or a grandchild's 16th<br />

birthday party. Kayalld Ray travel to florida<br />

three or four times a year to spend time with<br />

hai in May '09 to visit with Eric, Ray's son,<br />

who is CEO and founder ofa successful soft·<br />

Harry Rumberger and wife janie are plan.<br />

ning a trip to Russin, Estonia,and Latvia in<br />

juneIJuly. In june Harry presented a pro<br />

gram on Chinaalthelocal commllllitycollege<br />

about his Chinn trip in 2007. He com<br />

posed a visual jOllrney and dtscusston from<br />

the thousands of photos he took. Harry and<br />

Janie enjoyed seeing rnarry of our classmates<br />

at tile 45th reunion and encourage all of us<br />

to attend the 50th. On a personal note. I get<br />

to see Harry and janie occasionally whcn<br />

they come to fredericksburg, Va.. to visit<br />

their daughter, janine, Always fun to have<br />

lunch together and catch ltp on old times<br />

kinds of activities, Barbara and her husband<br />

traveled to Normandy and Paris last spring<br />

and reguladv auend the symphony and theatre<br />

in Baltimore. At the opera last month<br />

they were pleasamlv surprtsed to find Bob<br />

and Peggy Hoey '6] Warfield seated JUSt in<br />

Eunice Sank Seymour retired from teaching<br />

mostly Latin and sometimes English in<br />

Anne Arundel County Public Schools in<br />

been travellng as muchruo they can, both nationallyand<br />

internationally. <strong>The</strong>irdsughter,<br />

Elisa. graduated from Loyola <strong>College</strong> in Baltimorewith<br />

a degree in math and their son,<br />

Eric, graduated from Penn State with a degree<br />

in meteorology and work-; for the National<br />

Weather Service in Charleston. W.Va.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Seymours have five grandchildren rhm<br />

have enriched their lives. <strong>The</strong>y spend a great<br />

deal of time traveling and camping with<br />

friends, working at their church and spendiogas<br />

much time with family as they can.<br />

Nancy Roel~e Sullivan and husband Dave<br />

'61 had a rough year in 2007. Nancy had a<br />

brain MRI which showed right side brain<br />

damage. This was probably caused by a<br />

stroke or several small strokes, possibly if]<br />

her sleep. She has no physical impairments,<br />

but does have problems wilh numbers and<br />

putting her lhoughts into words. David was<br />

diagnosed with pneumonia in August. following<br />

10 days of high-powered antibiotics<br />

he recovered. <strong>The</strong>n in]Ltly David had double<br />

by-pass surgery. <strong>The</strong> Sullivans did enjoy a<br />

day trip to the Lake District with an exten·<br />

sion in Tuscany. Nancy continues to sing<br />

with the Westbrook Village Chorus and Dave<br />

is looking forward to getting back on the golf<br />

course. Better days to come<br />
