Presented by the <strong>Coal</strong> <strong>City</strong> Parent <strong>School</strong> Organization<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Coal</strong> <strong>City</strong> Parent <strong>School</strong> Organization is a collaboration of parents, teachers and staff<br />

of <strong>Coal</strong> <strong>City</strong> Unit District #1. As a group, we value education and strive to see our students<br />

succeed in their studies. <strong>The</strong> PSO funds this scholarship through fundraising activities<br />

throughout the year. <strong>The</strong> recipient will be named at the <strong>Scholarship</strong> Awards Night on May 14 th ,<br />

2013. <strong>The</strong> recipient will also be invited to attend the May PSO meeting and read their winning<br />

essay.<br />

To be considered for the <strong>June</strong> <strong>Boyd</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong>, applicants must:<br />

Be eligible to graduate from CCHS in the current academic year.<br />

Have previously graduated from CCHS.<br />

Be accepted into a college or university for the consecutive academic year.<br />

Complete, sign, and include the attached application, essay, and teacher<br />

recommendation.<br />

Considered applications will be scored and weighted as follows:<br />

Essay (60%)<br />

Academics (10%)<br />

Activities/Service (10%)<br />

Teacher Recommendation (10%)<br />

Personal Accomplishment Statement (10%)<br />

All applications are judged by a committee chosen by the PSO.<br />

Recipients of this scholarship will receive their award on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 7:00 pm at<br />

the CCHS <strong>Scholarship</strong> Awards Night event. Applications must be received by April 12, 2013 at<br />

the Early Childhood Center, 755 S. Carbon Hill Rd., <strong>Coal</strong> <strong>City</strong>, IL 60416 or dropped off at CCHS.<br />
