1. WHAT precious promise did Jesus make to His disciples shortly<br />

be<strong>for</strong>e His crucifixion<br />

“I will pray <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r, and He shall give you ano<strong>the</strong>r Com<strong>for</strong>ter, that<br />

He may abide with you <strong>for</strong>ever.” John 14:16.<br />

2. Who is <strong>the</strong> Com<strong>for</strong>ter, and what was He to do<br />

“But <strong>the</strong> Com<strong>for</strong>ter, even <strong>the</strong> Holy Spirit, whom <strong>the</strong> Fa<strong>the</strong>r will send<br />

in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance<br />

all that I said unto you.” Verse 26, R.V.<br />

“Even <strong>the</strong> Spirit of truth; whom <strong>the</strong> world cannot receive, because it<br />

seeth Him not, nei<strong>the</strong>r knoweth Him.” Verse 17.<br />

“But ye know Him; <strong>for</strong> He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” Same<br />

verse.<br />

NOTE.— Rom. 8:9 shows <strong>the</strong> Spirit of each of <strong>the</strong> three persons of <strong>the</strong><br />

Godhead to be one and <strong>the</strong> same Spirit.<br />

8. How does Jesus, through <strong>the</strong> Spirit, seek an entrance to every<br />

heart<br />

“Behold, I stand at <strong>the</strong> door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and<br />

open <strong>the</strong> door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with<br />

Me.” Rev. 3:20.<br />

9. Why was it necessary <strong>for</strong> Christ to go away<br />

“Never<strong>the</strong>less I tell you <strong>the</strong> truth; It is expedient <strong>for</strong> you that I go<br />

away: <strong>for</strong> if I go not away, <strong>the</strong> Com<strong>for</strong>ter will not come unto you; but if I<br />

depart, I will send Him unto you.” John 16:7.
