307. MICROBIOLOGY.
An introductory course including training in bacteriological
technique and sanitation, with some study of yeasts and molds;
morphological and physiological characteristics of ordinary types
of bacteria leading to their identification; sanitary analysis of
milk and water; bacteriology of foods. Prerequisite. Chemistry
101, 102, or 103, 104. Laboratory fee, $8.00.
Three class periods and one three-hour laboratory period a
week. Credit, four semester hours.
308. APfL1ED i\f'CROBIOLOG~·.
A continuation of Biology q07. dealing with various applications
of bacteriology such as foods, commercial products. the
economy of nature, and public health. Non-pathogenic organisms
arc used for the most part the laboratory, but diseases are
in
considered in class. Prerequisite, Biology 307. Laboratory fee,
$8.00.
Two class periods and one three-hour laboratory period a
week. Credit, three semester hours.
315. MAMMALIAN PHYSIOLOGY.
The study of the function of the animal organism: its use of
response to stimuli, self-regulation; foods, digestion, absorption,
food,
circulation, respiration, excretion, muscle action, ner-
vous coordination, endocrine regulation, etc., from a physical
and chemical point of view. Prerequisite, Chemistry 101, IOi,
or 103, 104; some knowledge of organic chemistry is highly desirable.
Laboratory fee, $ 10.00.
