QVDA - EXECUTIVE MEETING – WOLSELEY MAY 4, <strong>2004</strong><br />

There was some complications regarding an incomplete team at the Junior Girls District<br />
Curling playoffs at Maryfield. A reminder to the hosts of mixed curling, they should<br />
establish a POOL OF SUBSTITUTES in the event that any team requires a substitute. In<br />
BOYS and GIRLS competitions, the rinks must be made up of a minimum of four players<br />
to be eligible to compete.<br />

Kipling defeated Whitewood in a best-of-three series, 2 – 0 to advance to<br />
provincials.<br />
5. NEW BUSINESS<br />
A. Activity Reports<br />
Track & Field:<br />
Track and Field packages where handed out to each of the Division reps. Schools are<br />
reminded to know which events that you must work at and try to have a good working<br />
knowledge of the rules. A reminder that every athlete who has qualified to go to<br />
Provincials must have an intent form presented at the Coaches meeting which will be<br />
held following the District meet.<br />
A reminder the 3000M and Pole Vault will be held at Century Field in Yorkton on<br />
Wednesday, <strong>May</strong> 26. Bob Wilyman from Cupar will be the commissioner for the<br />
Pole Vault, while Terry Lynd from Moosomin will conduct the 3000M.<br />
QVDA District Track Meet at Century Field (Yorkton), Friday, <strong>May</strong> 28 – 9:30am

B. Service Award/SHSAA Coaches Award:<br />
The three members at large met to choose the above award winners, which will be<br />
announced at the SHSAA AGM and the QVDA AGM.<br />
C. <strong>2004</strong>/05 Budget:<br />
Motion: That the budget for the <strong>2004</strong>-2005 school year be accepted as presented.<br />

D. Medals & Activity Reports:<br />
Reports were studied and included in each Division Reps meeting agenda.<br />
E. SHSAA Report:<br />
Kevin Vollet, Assistant <strong>Executive</strong> Director of the SHSAA, spoke to some of<br />
upcoming issues at the SHSAA AGM to take place in June. The main topic of<br />
discussion surrounded the issue of district restructuring.<br />
F. Other:<br />
There is $600.00 available from the District Association to anyone who wants to<br />
attend this year’s Coaches Symposium at Saskatoon (August 16 and 17).<br />
Darcy McKeown will obtain the golf passes from Deer Valley for our door prize at<br />
this years SHSAA AGM.<br />
There is no one from our District running for any of the SHSAA elections.<br />
No <strong>Executive</strong> motions were brought up at this meeting for either the SHSAA AGM<br />
or the QVDA AGM.<br />

6. Officials Commissioner’s Report<br />
- Special thanks to all officials that participated in high school sports this past year.<br />
- QVDA will host a track & field official’s clinic next year.<br />
- Anyone interested in holding a football or volleyball clinic in the fall, please contact<br />
Randy Clark at Wolseley with the details before school is out.<br />
- A special reminder to teams/schools considering presenting bids to host in the fall need<br />
to submit the names of two officials who have indicated that they will work at your event.<br />
