– Pharmacy and Healthcare – Trends and Perspectives<br />

URGENT SUPPORT <strong>TO</strong> LOCAL PHARMACY<br />

Prof. Dragomir Marisavljević made an appeal on behalf of the Council of producers, wholesale pharmacies and importers of<br />

medicaments and medical preparations of the Chamber of Economy of Serbia for the disparity in the prices of medicaments<br />

to be eliminated, then for the necessity to pass non-existent laws and acts, for sanction and strict observance of all provisions<br />

of laws on medicaments, amendments and additions to laws on medicaments in accordance with the EU directives, credit<br />

and other measures of export incentives and for penalising disloyal competition.<br />

The first regional annual conference: ''Pharmacy and<br />

Healthcare – Trends and Perspectives'' in the<br />

organization of the Economist Media Group was held<br />

on Wednesday, October 17. The Conference<br />

comprised three panels: Pharmaceutical Regulations –<br />

Local Regulations and European Standard, Pharmacy<br />

and Business and the last panel Trends and Standards<br />

in Pharmaceutical Industry.<br />

Moderator Milena Radojičić, the advisor of the<br />

director for the Agency for Medicaments and<br />

Medical Preparations of Serbia for regulations issues<br />

and panel members: Tomica Milosavljević, the<br />

Minister of Health in the government of the Republic of<br />

Serbia, Predrag Bubalo, the Minister of Trade, Tomislav Solarović, the ALIMS director, Jacques Morenas, the French<br />

Agency for Medicaments, Svetlana Vukajlović, RZZO (The Republic Institution for Healthcare Insurance) director, Dragomir<br />

Marisavljević, vice-president of Hemofarm and president of the Council of the Group of Producers of Medicaments,<br />

Aleksandar Pravdić, director of Galenika and Ramo Bralić, the director of the Republic Fund for Healthcare Insurance of<br />

Montenegro participated in the first panel, in which there was discussion about the government strategy in the development<br />

of the local pharmaceutical industry, implementation of the regulations on the existing products, comparison of the local<br />

and foreign pharmaceutical regulations, financing of the pharmaceutical healthcare protection.<br />

The second panel was led by the economic expert Danko Đunić, while the panel members were: Miodrag Babić,<br />

president of Hemofarm, Edin Arslanagić, director of Bosnalijek, Živko Mukaetov, director of Alkaloid, Vladimir Gravara,<br />

director of Jugohemija Farmacija and Martin Schloh, partner A.T. Kearney.<br />

Modern trends in pharmacy, standards in pharmaceutical production, innovations on the local level and in our<br />

surroundings, guarantee of the quality of medicaments, phytopharmacy, medical products, OTC products, were the subject<br />

of the third panel.<br />

Having greeted the attendants, moderator Zlata Žuvela, director of the Pharmaceutical Chamber of Serbia presented the<br />

panel members Ružica Nikolić, assistant to the minister in the Ministry of Health, Slavko Marković, the director of the<br />

National Control Laboratory, Gordana Mihajlović, assistant to the director of the National Sector for Information, Nada<br />

Kovačević, the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ana Korać – Trkulja, the marketing director at Roche and Pavle<br />

Marjanović, the director of Sanofi – Aventis.<br />

Estimating that the local pharmaceutical industry requires government support and adequate financial means so as to<br />

succeed in bringing its production in accordance with the GMP standards by 2009, because after this deadline it will not<br />

be possible sell any medicaments on the local market, unless they are produced in accordance with GMP, the minister of
