NEW HEMOFARM PREPARATIONS TO APPEAR SOON
New medicaments will appear on the market intended particularly to those patients who suffer from the most frequent
diseases – related to the heart and stomach and also to those who have problems with eye infections.
Our company has registered in the past period a couple of new preparations and pharmaceutical forms which will soon
be found in pharmacies. These preparations are in the field of cardiology, gastrology and ophthalmology. We have
discussed on this occasion these preparations and their advantages in comparison with other similar products for
Hemofarm Press with Dr. Dragana Pavkov, the Knowledge Team manager in the Hemofarm Portfolio Service, who has
been in Hemofarm 25 years and has been for a long time a member of the commission for the selection of new
medicaments.
As the cardiovascular segment is quite pronounced in the portfolio
of our company, each new preparation which appears within
CardioLogica is given due attention. The production of Erynorm
tablets is to begin soon in this segment. These tablets are used in
cases of hypertension, hypertension with hypertrophy of the left
chamber (losartan decreases the risk of the occurrence of
cerebral stroke in this group of patients except for the diseased
people of black race), then in cases of diabetic nephropathy in
patients with diabetes mellitus (losartan slows down the
progression of kidney disease expressed by the decrease of the
incidence of double increase of creatinine, development of the
terminal phase of the renal disease or fatal outcome as well as by
the decrease of proteinuria) – said dr Pavkov, pointing out that Erynorm will be on the market in the form of film tablets in
doses of 28 x 50 mg and 28 x 100 mg.
What is the principle of effect of Erynorm and what is its advantage in comparison with other similar preparations?
Erynorm contains the active substance losartan, which belongs to receptor antagonists Angiotenzin II, popularly called
‘’sartans’’. Losartan blocks selectively the AT 1 receptors and consequentially decreases the pressure activity of angiotenzin
II. Angiotenzin II by binding to AT 1 receptors which are found in many tissues (e.g. the smooth muscle cells of blood vessels,
the suprarenal gland, kidneys, heart) activates a series of biological processes including vasoconstriction and release of
aldosterone. Losartan and its active metabolite block all physiological effects of angiotenzin II. As opposed to this the ACE
inhibitors block the effect of Angiotenzin I and increase the effect of bradikinin without having an effect on Angiotenzin II,
which makes the basic pharmacodynamic difference between these two groups of medicaments. In a comparative study of

ACE inhibitors and losartan, it turned out that the incidence of cough as an adverse effect, was significantly decreased in
the case of losartan as compared to the ACE inhibitors.
For which diseases are the other new preparations intended?
The existing number of preparations within GastroLogica has been enriched with the introduction of two new preparations.
Those are Bicit HP, by composition bismuth subcitrate and Sabax, which is by composition lansoprazol, i.e. belongs to
proton pump inhibitors.
What are the exact indications in which the above mentioned preparations will be used?
Both preparations have their place in the therapy of the very frequent ulcus disease (ulcers) and the eradication of the
Helicobacter pylori. The peptic ulcus disease (ulcer on stomach or duodenum) is among the most frequent gastrointestinal
diseases. It is diagnosed in about 10% of the world population, but it is assumed that the actual prevalence is probably
greater. Namely, part of the patients without expressed symptoms do not go to doctors, but treat themselves. It has been
noted that the frequency of the peptic ulcus disease in the last decades is decreasing gradually, particularly of the one on
duodenum, and the number of serious complications is also decreasing, particularly bleedings. H. pylory infection
increases significantly the risk of the devleopment of the peptic ulcus disease ( 4 – 10 times), regardless of the fact whether
it is a question of the stomach ulcus or the ulcus of the duodenum. The etiological meaning of H. pylori infection is best
reflected in the fact of a faster healing of the ulcus and significantly less frequent recidives following successful eradication.
Namely, the frequency of the ulcus recidive, of 70 – 80% in the course of the first year in the case of the untreated drops
below 5% in patients following the eradication of the infection. For example, following the achieved sanative effect, mainly
all ulcus recidives on the duodenum are a consequence of the infection with H. pylori
The knowledge about the benefit of the eradication of the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) particularly in patients with peptic
ulcus, has led to great and significant changes in the treatment ot stomach and duodenum diseases and has absolutely
changed the conceptions and treatment of patients. Eradication has been defined as the disappearance of H. pylori from
the stomach mucous tissue (negative result), determined at least 4 weeks following the end of the eradication antibiotic
therapy. The therapy protocol must be simple, low cost and well endured, so that patients will implement it easily and
completely.
What is the real degree of success of this kind of therapy?
The success of eradication of H. pylori, measured by the strick criteria, must be greater than 80%. It is recommended that
the therapy be triple and not longer than 7 days. Some of the proton pump inhibitors (PPI) are used as an antisecretory
medicament: omeprazol, pantoprazol or lansoprazol. Some of the antibiotics are given with this: amoxicillin, clarithromycin
or metronidazol. Due to the failure of the eradication therapy and increase in the number of resistent species of H. pylori to
antibiotic components of the current therapy protocols, new ways of treating and new efficient medicaments are to be
found.
Patients in whom eradication leads to the disappearance of the symptoms should be tested again for HP after 4 weeks. If
the patients are positive, it will be necessary to repeat the treatment and this means by a combination of PPI + metronidazol
+ bismuth in the form of subcitrate + tetracycline which seems to be most efficient according to information found in
literature.
In which way do these preparations have an effect on the above mentioned stomach disease?
Bismuth subcitrate has a protective effect on the mucous tissue of the stomach and duodenum and makes a lining on it.
Besides this, bismuth subcitrate has a bactericidal effect on Helicobacter pylori which is an important factor in the
occurrence of the ulcus disease. Bismuth subcitrate acts together with the antibiotics which are used in the eradication of
the Helicobacter pylori and can be implemented in a combined therapy of the ulcus disease (constituent part of the triple
or quadruple therapy in combination with antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors or H 2 receptor blockers).
Lansoprazol belongs to the group of proton pump inhibitor medicaments. The mechanism of action entails H + /K + ATPaze
inhibition of parietal cells of the stomach, the terminal phase in the production of the stomach acid, which leads to the
reduction of acidity and achievement of antiulcus effect. It is believed that biotransformation of lansoprazol into active form
and then binding with the sulphhydrile group H + /K + ATPaze with consequential inhibition occurs on the level of parietal

cells. Lansoprazol has a prolonged pharmacological effect and suppresses efficiently the secretion of acid for 24 hours.
With the reduction of the stomach juice acidity, lansoprazol provides for conditions in which the respective antibiotics can
have an effect on the Helicobacter pylori. In vitro research has shown that lansoprazol has also a direct antimicrobic effect
on Helicobacter pylori.
Lansoprazol has a high bioexploitation (80 – 90%). As a result of this, the desired effect is achieved very quickly. The
maximum concentrations in plasm are achieved 1.5 to 2 hours after administration. The half-time of elimination from plasm
is from 1 to 2 hours following administration of a single or repeated doses in healthy volunteers. There is no information
about the accumulation of the medicament following longer administration in healthy volunteers. Lansoprazol binds to
plasm proteins 97%. Following absorption, lansoprazol metabolises in the liver and is excreted by renal and biliary
secretion. Around 50% of the administered dose is excreted by urine. Bicit HP is found in the form of film tablets 40 x 300
mg, and Sabax in found in the form of capsules in packages of 28 x 15 mg and 14 x 30 mg.
Our company introduced also not so long ago a preparation which is one of three medicaments which, when used properly,
eradicate H. pylori in around 90 percent of cases?
Yes, that is Clathrocyn. Although it is in the portfolio of our company as part of a licence cooperation with the company
Lek, it should be stressed that the preparation Zymbactar has appeared as a result of Hemofarm’s own development,
which is based on the same active substance clarithromycin. Clarithromycin is an antibiotic of a wide spectrum. It is used
very successfully in the therapy of respiratory infections caused by delicate infective agents, and on the other hand it has
proven to be an irreplaceable part of the combined therapy of the eradication of the Helicobacter pylori infection.
Another preparation will appear soon on the market for the treatment of eye infections?
It is a question of a new pharmaceutical form of the antibiotic for local administration Hloramkol. Until now Hloramkol
(hloramfenikol) was on the market only in the form of an eye ointment, and it has been registered recently also in the form
of eye drops.
The therapeutic and adverse effects of hloramfenikol have been studied well and are well-known. The indications and
contraindications for its use have been defined precisely and proven in practice. After local administration into the eye,
hloramfenikol penetrates well into the eye tissues and into the liquid in the eye. Maximum concentrations in the liquid in the
eye are achieved within 15 – 30 minutes.
Hloramkol 0.5% eye drops is used for treatment of infections of the front eye segment (caused by bacteria which are
sensitive to hloramfenikol, when other antibiotics have no effect or are contraindicated), such as blepharitis and
blepharoconjuctivitis, bacterial conjuctivitis, bacterial keratitis as well as expositional, neuroparalytical and neurothrophical
keratitis in the case of the existence of secondary bacterial infection.
AMONG THOSE WITH GREATEST SALES VOLUMES
The production of the first transfer batch of the product Erynorm 50 mg film tablets and Erynorm 100 mg film tablets was
materialized in the first week of October. The big potential of this product is proven by the fact that this product together
with the fixed combination of losartan and hydrochlorothiazide ranked high on the second position in 2006 on the list of
the products with greatest sales volumes of the originator, the company Merck Sharp & Dhom (source: 2006 ANNUAL
REVIEW, http://www.merck.com/finance/proxy/2006_form_10-k.pdf).
Erynorm film tablets are round, biconvex, white film tablets with a division line on one side. The production of the
compacted granulate takes place by the technique of dry granulation in the plant of solid forms in Šabac on a roller
compactor. The prepared compacted granulate is a semi-product, which goes into the composition of both doses of the
finished product. The preparation process of the final mixture, followed by tableting and coating of the core takes place in
the plant of solid forms in Vršac.
The development of the formulation and the development of the production process was a challenge for the team of
experts who worked on the project of development of the new product, because of the patent limitations, properties of the

active component, the great proportion of the active component in the tablet mass. Following successful selection of the
most optimum formulation and production technique based on laboratory research, and followed by stability results,
research was conducted also of the bioequivalence of the dose of 100 mg. In vitro and in vivo tests proved that our
product was bioequivalent with the originator, under the patented name Cozaar, more precisely with the product
registered on the German market under the name Lorzaar film tablets of the producer Merck Sharp & Dohme.

The efficiency, safety and quality of our generic product
has been confirmed through all development phases by
excellent results in the physical-chemical and biologicalmedical
researches. The trend of such good results
continued in the first transfer phase in the production, so
that we expect positive opinions and release of the first
batch by the Agency for Medicaments.

STADA R&D MEETING IN VRŠAC
35 representatives of all business units of the STADA group stayed in Vršac from September 17 to 19 in the aim of
attending the regular half-yearly R&D meeting, which was held in hotel Villa Breg and was hosted by our company.
Considering the significance of the meeting at which the production portfolio was defined for the whole STADA group, our
president Mr. Miodrag Babić, vice-president Mr. Nikola Stanković and the executive vice-president Miss Sonja Pejović
took also part. Mr. Babić made a statement to the attendants at the very beginning of the meeting, wishing them welcome
and successful work and then he made a brief presentation about Hemofarm. Our president pointed out that Hemofarm
was a company in which medicaments were developed and produced to be distributed throughout Europe and he invited
the participants to visit our plants on the second day so as to get assured about the good equipment in all of our plants and
laboratories, but also about the expertise and competence of our staff.
Mr. Christof Schumann, member of the STADA group board and the R&D directors Miss Sigrid Dienel and Mr. Michael
Wolf-Pflugmann presided over the working part of the meeting. Consideration was given to the status of the earlier defined
development projects and new projects were proposed during the whole day of work. It was maintained once again that
under the conditions of the ever increasing market competition there is a great pressure on the R&D, which must provide
new products using the available resources, but also strategic approaches. It was pointed out that STADA got
development facilities with the acquisition of Hemofarm, which will enable more and more new products to be developed
in its own laboratories, whereby better control over projects is achieved, and later better management of the production
costs. New projects which would be developed in the Hemofarm institute were defined in this sense, with the intention to
register and place them on all markets on which STADA operates.
A visit to the Hemofarm production facilities was organized on the second day, whereby all guests expressed sincere
satisfaction with what they saw. They also praised the excellent organization for which the Hemofarm Institute and the
president’s cabinet were in charge of and expressed a wish to to gather again in our town.

THE SAINT THEODORE AWARD
TO THE PRESIDENT OF HEMOFARM
His holiness, the Banat bishop Mr. Nikanor, consecrated in
the park Vladičanski dvor in the presence of numerous
believers and other esteemed guests on Saturday September
22, two big, newly placed fountains from which high and rich
water jets enrich the outstanding ambience of the two and a
half centuries old architectural building. The building of the
fountains was supported by all the companies in Vršac and
the local administration.
The Banat bishop consecrated on this occasion also the big
cross, the personal gift of the president of Hemofarm,
Miodrag Babić, well-known for giving support to the building
of many sancuaries even beyond this eparchy.
The Banat bishop, Mr. Nikanor, thanked the president of our company with chosen words for the enormous contribution,
efforts and care about the holy monuments of the Banat eparchy and he handed him then the Vršac Saint Theodore
Award, the highest acknowlegement of this eparchy.
While receiving the highest award of the eparchy, the Hemofarm president thanked for the trust put in him and pointed out
that he would continue to support wholeheartedly in the future the Serbian Orthodox church and its sanctuaries.
In his speech the Banat bishop, Nikanor pointed out the significance of this event, the beauty of the fountains and cross
which the Hemofarm president donated.
The president of the Vršac municipality, Jovica Zarkula greeted also the people present at this event and pointed out that
the local administration would continue to support the restoration of the sanctuaries of the Banat eparchy.
The newly built fountains in front of Vladičanski dvor, are the work of the architect Milorad Ćirić, and the donation for its
building was made by the company Hemofarm.
The Ministry of Economy has established a Business Council
including the president of Hemofarm
CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROGRESS OF SERBIAN ECONOMY
The Ministry of Economy established on September 26, a business council including representatives of 32 local and
foreign companies, among whom is also the president of Hemofarm, Miodrag Babić. The Council should, as has been
indicated in the statement made by the Ministry, support the economic progress of Serbia, and representatives of all
structures of economy have been included in it. The representatives of local and foreign companies operating in Serbia
will contribute directly to the further progress of the Serbian economy by their engagement, as the experiences and
recommendations of businessmen are essential for the improvement of the conditions of operation, as has been pointed out
in the statement.
Besides the president of our company, Zoran Drakulić from East Point, Miroslav Mišković from Delta, as well as the former
minister Goran Pitić from the bank Societe Generale are also in the Business Council. Nikola Pavičić from Sintelon – Tarket,
Slobodan Radun from Nektar, Toplica Spasojević from ITM group, Slobodan Vučićević from Grand Prom, Dragoljub
Vukadinović from Metalac and others are also in this council. The members of the Council discussed at the first session the
materialization of a comprehensive reform of regulations, the purpose of which would be to speed up the changes of the
legal system in Serbia and eliminate the unnecessary and outdated regulations. The Council will convene regularly each
month.

– Pharmacy and Healthcare – Trends and Perspectives
URGENT SUPPORT TO LOCAL PHARMACY
Prof. Dragomir Marisavljević made an appeal on behalf of the Council of producers, wholesale pharmacies and importers of
medicaments and medical preparations of the Chamber of Economy of Serbia for the disparity in the prices of medicaments
to be eliminated, then for the necessity to pass non-existent laws and acts, for sanction and strict observance of all provisions
of laws on medicaments, amendments and additions to laws on medicaments in accordance with the EU directives, credit
and other measures of export incentives and for penalising disloyal competition.
The first regional annual conference: ''Pharmacy and
Healthcare – Trends and Perspectives'' in the
organization of the Economist Media Group was held
on Wednesday, October 17. The Conference
comprised three panels: Pharmaceutical Regulations –
Local Regulations and European Standard, Pharmacy
and Business and the last panel Trends and Standards
in Pharmaceutical Industry.

director for the Agency for Medicaments and
Medical Preparations of Serbia for regulations issues
and panel members: Tomica Milosavljević, the
Minister of Health in the government of the Republic of
Serbia, Predrag Bubalo, the Minister of Trade, Tomislav Solarović, the ALIMS director, Jacques Morenas, the French
Agency for Medicaments, Svetlana Vukajlović, RZZO (The Republic Institution for Healthcare Insurance) director, Dragomir
Marisavljević, vice-president of Hemofarm and president of the Council of the Group of Producers of Medicaments,
Aleksandar Pravdić, director of Galenika and Ramo Bralić, the director of the Republic Fund for Healthcare Insurance of
Montenegro participated in the first panel, in which there was discussion about the government strategy in the development
of the local pharmaceutical industry, implementation of the regulations on the existing products, comparison of the local
and foreign pharmaceutical regulations, financing of the pharmaceutical healthcare protection.
The second panel was led by the economic expert Danko Đunić, while the panel members were: Miodrag Babić,
president of Hemofarm, Edin Arslanagić, director of Bosnalijek, Živko Mukaetov, director of Alkaloid, Vladimir Gravara,
director of Jugohemija Farmacija and Martin Schloh, partner A.T. Kearney.
Modern trends in pharmacy, standards in pharmaceutical production, innovations on the local level and in our
surroundings, guarantee of the quality of medicaments, phytopharmacy, medical products, OTC products, were the subject
of the third panel.
Having greeted the attendants, moderator Zlata Žuvela, director of the Pharmaceutical Chamber of Serbia presented the
panel members Ružica Nikolić, assistant to the minister in the Ministry of Health, Slavko Marković, the director of the
National Control Laboratory, Gordana Mihajlović, assistant to the director of the National Sector for Information, Nada
Kovačević, the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ana Korać – Trkulja, the marketing director at Roche and Pavle
Marjanović, the director of Sanofi – Aventis.
Estimating that the local pharmaceutical industry requires government support and adequate financial means so as to
succeed in bringing its production in accordance with the GMP standards by 2009, because after this deadline it will not
be possible sell any medicaments on the local market, unless they are produced in accordance with GMP, the minister of

trade and services, Predrag Bubalo, pointed out at the opening of the Economist Media Group Conference – Pharmacy
and Healthcare – Trends and Perspectives, that this ministry would work on advancing the system for the formation of the
prices of medicaments.
This is the most important task and the most important issue and the Ministry of Trade will endeavour to resolve this issue so
that the producers can meet the quality requirements as soon as possible and become more competitive on the market.
Besides implementing the EU directives related to the transparency of the measures and additions to the criteria which
serve to define the prices of the medicaments, this ministry is preparing a data base of comparable prices of medicaments
in referential countries based on the publications from these countries for 2007. An analysis of the priorities of the prices of
medicaments will be done based on this and the prices of all medicaments on the market of Serbia will be reconsidered.
Depending on the results, the Ministry of Trade and Services and the Ministry of Health will propose a decree to the
government of Serbia about the criteria for the adjustment of the prices of medicaments with changes of the comparable
prices in the referential countries for 2007 – pointed out minister Bubalo.
The minister of health, Tomica Milosavljević, as well as the director of the Republic Institution for Healthcare Insurance,
Svetlana Vukajlović, and on behalf of our company, the president of the company, Miodrag Babić, as well as the president
of the Council of the Group of Producers of Medicaments, Medical Preparations, Wholesale Pharmacies and Group of
Importers and Distributers of Medical Preparations in the Chamber of Economy of Serbia, prof. Dr. Dragomir Marisavljević,
spoke about the position of the local pharmacy, and of heathcare in general on this occasion.
More than 250 representatives of all relevant institutions in the field of pharmacy and healthcare, pharmaceutical
companies, wholesale pharmacies, pharmacies, healthcare institutions, consultant companies, broker companies and
lawyers' offices attended the gathering in hotel Hyatt Regency.
While participating in the first conference panel, Prof. Marisavljević appealed to the Ministry of Health, Trade, Economy,
RZZO asking them to critically consider the document from 2006 – the analysis of the production and sale of medicaments
from 2006 to 2009 with a proposal of measures for their advancement.
It has been pointed out to some of the problems in this analysis, such as the need to eliminate the disparity of the prices of
the medicaments in the aim of achieving the level of the required investments for the compliance with the European
standards in the production and distribution of medicaments, need for passing non-existent laws and acts, strict observance
of all provisions of laws on medicaments, amendments and additions to laws on medicaments in accordance with the EU
directives, credit and other measures for export incentives, penalising disloyal competition, particularly in the sense of the
implementation of the anti-dumping measures and measures for uncontrolled growth of import of ready to use medicaments
for which there are local substitutes – pointed out Marisavljević.
The President of Hemofarm pointed out also, that unfortunately, we have to repeat some issues, as they have not been
resolved for years.
Firstly we have to look at the ambience in which we are working. We lost our market with the disintegration of the country,
and the incentive of the investor is expressed through a view of the market, taking into consideration the purchase power
and similar aspects and then it is obvious where Serbia stands today. It was of course necessary to materialize all solutions
requested by such a highly sophisticated industry in the course ot these hard times and satisfy the higher and higher
standards which cause us costs and make access difficult to some new markets. Many of the things we failed to do have
not been done and there are many things which are causing problems to this industry. We have not established uniform
law regulations with our surroundings thus I have a feeling that we are too open in comparison with some new markets
from which our competitors come, and on which we do not have access under the same rules and logic – said president
Babić in the second panel of the conference.
The president reminded that Hemofarm has invested in Serbia and in the region, that we have built a factory in Banjaluka
which can be considered from the technological aspect as one of the best plants within our Hemofarm group.
And we did this of course with a wish to sell from there to the whole of Bosnia and Hercegovina, which we are not exactly
succeeding in, as it seems that we do not even know all the laws on medicaments in Bosnia and Hercegovina. There are
some obstacles there. In Croatia the registration procedure is somewhat more difficult and it is more difficult for us than for

someone from Croatia who comes here to sell medicaments. Of course, I am not asking for restrictions to be introduced
here, I believe that an agreement should be made on the level of the ministers of health, which would establish a full and
equal competition. I particularly have Slovenia in mind here, as the Krka medicaments are sold well here, and as far as I
know, nobody is selling anything from here in Slovenia. We also have a procedure here for the registration of
medicaments, a supervision over production, whereas there is no insight into the conditions under which medicaments are
produced by those who import them here from quite exotic countries. I would like to appeal to the Agency for
Medicaments to cover all these issues, so that we would all be in the same position. Hemofarm has invested a lot and has
used two loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and we are very aware how expensive
GMP is. It is a question of millions of Euros. I believe that in this GMP context those who worked on it have not been
awarded. It will not be possible to introduce it in a year and the worst would be to postpone the time schedule, as has
been seen in China, Russia and did not prove to be good. The European GMP has been introduced in practically all
Hemofarm plants, we were the first to get it already back in 2001 from European Regulation authorirites and it is verified
every two years and if others do not share this burden and this burden is not acknowledged as a cost, then this is certainly
not acknowledged. We must have the same conditions in the same match. I believe that we can do more ourselves so as
to make a more rational system and be more productive – pointed out the president of Hemofarm.
What is next?
The conclusions following the discussion of the first panel were that the competent ministries would undertake all required
measures so as to improve the status of the Serbian pharmaceutical industry in the economic and regulatory sense,
following the EU standards, as well as actions for the establishment of the national policy on medicaments, particularly in its
development segment. It has been agreed to continue activities related to harmonizing the prices of the local and foreign
medicaments, as well as to harmonizing the regulations and strengthening the supervision sector in the field of medicaments
and medical preparations. In the course of the discussion it was also concluded that actions would be undertaken to satisfy
the requirements of GMP, that the existing law on medicaments and medical preparations would be amended and
completed, but also harmonized with the latest EU directives and that activities would be speeded up in relation to the
expert preparations for the signature of the PIC convention. All this must be done so as to satisfy the conditions for the GMP
regulations before the given deadline.
Minister Predrag Bubalo spoke and answered questions about consulting and management in the pharmaceutical industry,
experiences from the region, market regulations and about how the pharmaceutical industry as one of the most organized
trade activities in our country is a ''target'' for foreign investors, which led to conclusions that foreign investors recognize the
pharmaceutical industry as a highly profitable industrial branch, that the consulting companies are very significant in
evaluating the quality of companies which foreign companies intend to purchase. Accent was given to the significance of
the work performed by consulting companies in the process of evaluation of company quality, but also to the advancement
of the legal ambience for foreign investors, fulfillment of European standards and distribution (GDP), as well as to
consistency in the implementation of the law on medicaments in the part related to the timeframes for the fulfillment of the
GMP and GDP, as elements of legal security of invested capital. It has been suggested that CEFTA be completed with
annexes, so that this specific field, trade with medicaments, could be harmonized and thereby it could be possible to avoid
repetition of the medicament registration procedure for each country in the region.
During the panel various issues were opened, among others also the free formation of prices of OTC products and
supervision over foreign producers who do business on our market, whereas their headquarters are out of EU and USA.
Current situation
The price of medicaments in Serbia is currently around 42 percent of the price in the referential countries, Croatia, Slovenia
and Italy. The law on medicaments stipulates that the prices of medicaments in Serbia should reach 80 percent of the

average comparable price in the referential countries by 2009, however this ratio has been increased only from 32 to 42
percent in the period from 2004 to 2006.

The Minister of Health, Mr. Tomica Milosavljević said that EUR 186 is allocated per inhabitant per year in Serbia for
healthcare and that thus only Albania in Europe has less funds for the health system than we do.
According to what Svetlana Vukajlović said, 15% of the total allocated funds for healthcare are for medicaments.
The conclusion is that our inhabitants spend on the average EUR 27.9 for medicaments from the funds of RZZO (The
Republic Institution for Health Insurance).

The Federation is Hindering the Passing of the Law on Medicaments in RS
It is logical that pharmaceutical industry of the Federation is not in favour of a uniform market of medicaments, because it is
presently monopolist on the market.
Ranko Škrbić, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare of RS, believes that the law on medicaments in Bosnia and
Hercegovina (BiH), which was prepared for seven years and which has been completed more than a year ago and has
been several times in the parliamentary procedure, has still not been passed for political reasons, and because of the
pharmaceutical industry lobby from the federation of Bosnia and Hercegovina.
Q: How do you see the prepared law on medicaments in BiH?
Škrbić: There have been discussions about the law on medicaments in BiH more than seven years. There have been
several attempts to pass the law. Professional expert work groups from RS and the Federation worked intensively on
passing it. The process lasted a couple of years, and was intensified last year with the adoption of the working version of
the law, which faced some problems, particularly the inadequate understanding of the producers and the regulations and
other interested parties. Still, consensus was finally achieved and I can say that the law prepared in this way has fully
included all the directives of the European Union, related to this field.The OHR people have undertaken coordination
activities for this work and I believe that they did very good work.
Q: Despite this, the law has still not been passed. Why and whose interest is it, that it should not be passed?
Škrbić: When the law reached the stage of being passed, certain games began and discussions whether the law, as it
was, could be passed or not. There were different views expressed by some producers in BiH, who disputed some articles,
above all articles 58 and 140. This was related to whether the producer also had to have a laboratory for quality control
within his production plant. The European directives do not require this condition for giving their agreement to producers for
production. Thus, producers may engage independent laboratories to control their products. However, some producers in
BiH were against this, probably because of competition. This would result in other, smaller producers, who believe that BiH
is an interesting place for investment, having to establish from the start not just production facilities, but also a laboratory for
control, which would discourage potential investors. We believe that segregation should not be done and that conditions
should not be made more difficult for certain kinds of production, which some would like to initiate in BiH.
Q: The Ministerial Council of BiH did not pass again the law on medicaments the week before last one. What was
disputable this time?

Škrbić: The above mentioned articles were disputable again, but then all of a sudden, probably for political reasons, article
four also became disputable, which defines the headquarters of the agency for medicaments. We believe that it would be
a pity to close down the Agency for Medicaments of RS and establish from the beginning a regulatory body in Sarajevo. I
cannot understand for this reason the requests, which are more of a political nature, which come from Sarajevo, that the
headquarters of the agency must be in Sarajevo. I maintain that it need not be located in Sarajevo. We suggested a
compromise and very logical solution. We believe that the headquarters of the regulatory part of the agency should be in
Banjaluka, and that the quality control should be in Sarajevo, because Sarajevo has a respectable laboratory equipped
with modern equipment. This was disputable and I realized that some ministers had political instructions that this should not
be passed. The Agency for Medicaments of RS has been operating five years already, it employs around 40 employees,
of which more than 25 have a university degree in various fields. The Agency does its job very well and has done most in
the region in the sense of accepting regulatory principles defined by EU. The part related to the members of the
commission for medicaments was also disputable, this part foresees that there should be four members from the Federation,
three or two from RS, one from the Brčko district. We believe that this is intentional and impermissible. It is not possible to
introduce for such important issues, which are of technical nature, a majority decision making system which would entail
decisions which could be of harm to some in such a process of decision making. It is obvious that in our circumstances
everything is politics, even the law on medicaments, which is a purely technical issue.
Q: Are the producers from the Federation afraid of a uniform law being passed, which would also entail a uniform market?
Škrbić: We made a decision already back in 2000 to open the borders and RS has the most transparent market in the
region. You can find all producers here. That is maybe why the producers from Sarajevo fear that their market will be
affected and that their medicament prices will drop.
The Bosnalijek products are for example, far more expensive in the Sarajevo canton than in RS. Politics dictate the prices so
that Bosnalijek can have greater financial gain. It is logical that a uniform market for medicaments does not suit the
pharmaceutical industry of the Federation, because it is monopolist presently. And if they open the borders and the market,
then it is logical that their sales and product prices will drop. It is certainly also a question of lobbies which do not allow the
law to be passed and be fully implemented. Thus, we have double and triple criteria. Everyday a new reason is found, just
so as to prolong the passing of the law.
Q: There is a lot of discussion lately about the chaos on the market of medicaments. How do you see such comments?
Škrbić: The mass media from the Federation ask me often whether I agree that the situation is chaotic. I tell them that maybe
it is chaotic in the Federation, but not in our case. We have uniform lists in the whole RS, a uniform approach to registration
in the whole RS, balanced prices of medicaments and having this in mind I cannot say that the situation is chaotic for us. On
the contrary, we have quite an orderly situation and this can be confirmed by the representatives of the producers,
intitutions and patients.
Doctors from the Clinical Center in Banjaluka Visit Hemofarm

We continued the trend of good cooperation with the Clinical Center in Banjaluka at the beginning of October with the
visit of the doctors from this center. Our dear guests were this time the doctors from the Clinic for Surgery, headed by the
chief of the clinic Dr. Milan Simatović, while the hosts were the director of our company in Banjaluka, Aleksandar
Veselinović, the manager of the regional marketing, Dr. Saša Urošević, the expert associates in marketing, Dr. Marina
Garača and Dr. Marjana Tica, and the expert associate in production, Dragan Zorić.

As we have had a very good cooperation until now with the doctors from the Clinic for Surgery, this visit was the result of a
logical sequence of events, so that the doctors would get assured that we produce in our factory in Banjaluka quality and
reliable medicaments.
Director Veselinović told the doctors in his introduction that Hemofarm, as the only factory of medicaments in Republika
Srpska is also their factory and thanked the doctors for their cooperation and support.
The chief of the clinic Dr. Milan Simatović, said that the surgeons were in Hemofarm for the first time and that they were
pleasantly surprised by what they saw during their visit to the factory. Dr. Simatović thanked for the reception and
expressed a hope that the cooperation with Hemofarm would be even better and and of greater quality in the coming

Promotion of new gold and silver coins at the National Bank of Serbia
Coins with the image of Dositej Obradović
T he National Bank of Serbia issued on September 17 gold and silver coins with the image of Dositej Obradović, on the
occasion of 200 years since he came to Serbia. The Minister of Education of Serbia Zoran Lončar and the President of the
Assembly of the Foundation Dositej Obradović, Miodrag Babić were present besides the governor of the National Bank
of Serbia, Radovan Jelašić at the promotion of the new gold and silver coins.

Radovan Jelašić, said on this occasion that Dositej
wanted to bring Serbia closer to Europe already two
centuries ago.
For us, this is an obligation towards the past, but even
more to the future. This harmony with the European
standards must not be a shield for adjustment with the
internal daily political requirements. The great
educator Obradović made the first significant steps in
getting Serbia closer to Europe. Serbia is a part of
Europe and is capable of accepting and developing
European values. The great educator, Dositej
Obradović was engaged in developing literacy and
fought for the use of the language everybody
understood, but also for the establishment of new
modern institutions. He brought to Serbia the spirit of enlightenment existing in Europe of the eighteenth century. His
messages are also applicable today in this sense, Serbia is a part of Europe and is capable of accepting and cultivating
European values – said Jelašić.
500 pieces of the gold, minted coins in the denomination of 5000 dinars and 1000 silver ones in the denomination of
1000 dinars have been on sale since the day of the promotion to date. The gold coins weigh 3.455 grams and are of a
diameter of 20 millimeters, while the silver ones weigh 13 grams and have a diameter of 30 millimeters.
The portrait of Dositej Obradović, the inscription of his name and the wording He studies as he walks and looks ahead into
centuries, the years of his birth and death (1739 – 1811) as well as the year of minting – 2007 are on the head of the
coins and the coat of arms of Serbia is on the tails.
The coins will be sold in the headquarters of the NBS and its branches, at the price as defined by this bank.

THE ADVANCEMENT OF PREVENTION HEALTH SERVICES IN SERBIA
Hemofarm was a honorary guest at the closing event of the three year old project The Advancement of Prevention Health
Services in Serbia in the Košutnjak camp, end of August.
Namely, the study The Concern of the Society with the Diseases in Serbia from 2003 showed that over two thirds of the
population in Serbia died of the so-called mass non-contagious diseases including heart and blood vessel diseases,
diabetes, breast cancer, uterine cervix cancer and colon cancer. It is also disastrous that one woman dies each day of
uterince cervix cancer – a disease which has been absolutely eliminated in the developed countries. All these diseases are
curable, if detected in time. Unfortunately, it is customary here to go to a doctor only when the disease has reached an
advanced stage. Having observed such negative trends, the Ministry of Health has set the development of a program of
early detection of these diseases as one of its priorities, by promoting the prevention of the diseases.
The European Union has financed through the European Agency for Reconstruction as one of the major partners of the
Ministry of Health, several projects in relation to health promotion, among which was also The Advancement of the
Prevention Health Services in Serbia. One of the main goals of this project was the support to the regional health centers in
opening and organizing of the operation of the centers for prevention health services. The project ended on August 31 this
year and a total of 25 prevention centers were opened, 21 in the region of Serbia and 4 prevention centers in Belgrade.
5 guidelines were published in the field of prevention of mass non-contagious diseases together with the republic expert
commission for making the guidelines for good clinical practice, and two national health promotion campaigns were also
conducted: You are my Heart and One Smoker – Many Victims. The conclusion of the above mentioned event, in which
Matthias Reinicke – EAR program manager for health as well as prof. Dr. Tomica Milosavljević, the minister of health in the
government of the Republic of Serbia addressed the guests, was to continue the advancement of the health of the
population, although the project has been completed.
Namely, the Ministry of Health has established a goal for all health centers in Serbia to open prevention centers in the
coming period.
At the very beginning, in September 2004, Hemofarm supported this project, thus we found ourselves now at the end at
the closing event with our booth – My Pharmacy, at which we presented the latest promotion – video – material of our
product range prepared especially for this occasion. The creative team of the Central Portfolio Service did its best for us to
be very interesting on this occasion also to the participants of this event. Recreative socializing in the beautiful nature, was

GENERAL PRACTITIONERS ON KOPAONIK
The Serbian Association of Doctors – The Section of General Medicine organized this year the 28th Conference of
General Medicine of Serbia with international participants on Kopaonik from September 28 to October 2. To the great
satisfaction of the organizer, 1550 financed participations were given, which only speaks for the quality and need for such
expert gatherings. The main subjects of this year's conference were disorders in mental health, primary prevention of
cardiovascular diseases and issues related to the role of general practitioners within the healthcare system. Doctors from
our country dominated, althugh the colleagues from the neighbouring countries did not miss the opportunity for expert
advancement and socializing on Kopaonik, which is extremely beautiful at this time of the year.
Such an impressive number of doctors on one location was not neglected even by pharmaceutical companies registered in
our country, thus they did their best to present both their companies and their offer of pharmaceutical preparations on their
booths.
Of course, Hemofarm was also present with its already recognizable booth and numerous associates, who were
socializing in their spare time with their guests – doctors, besides offering information about our medicaments and handing
out the respective advertising brochures.

Hemofarm had this time also a different presentation from the usual, which even the drizzle on Sunday was not able to
prevent. Namely, around two hundred lovers of nature and recreation gathered in front of hotel Grand at 1.00 p.m. and
went for a Walk with Hemofarm, following the tracks through the forest, over meadows to the clearing in the vicinity of the
hotel where there was refreshment waiting for them in the form of snacks and warm drinks. The questionnaires from our
competition were used to give 8 gifts to some of the walkers. The main prize (and another 9 consolation prizes: Teddy
Bears – My Pharmacy, stethoscopes and home apparatus) were given on the final evening at the festive cocktail, when dr.
Aleksandar Vujisić from Bačka Topola became the owner of a flat screen television set.
Of course, Hemofarm participated also in the expert part of the conference and this meant the round table discussions of
the two HemofarmLogicas: CardioLogica and InfectoLogica, where the Knowledge Team manager Dušan Đurić greeted
the attendants.
The round table discussion of CardioLogica with the subject. Prilinda – a new chapter in ACE inhibition began with the
lecture of the Knowledge Team associate – Ljiljana Radivojević, who made an introduction into the lectures, with a very
inventive heading: Prilinda – Benefits of Blood Pressure Control. The first lecture by prof. Dr. Biljana Obrenović Kirćanski
was on the subject of: Reduction of Risks of Cardiovascular Diseases in High Risk Patients – Prilinda in focus. This was
followed by the lecture given by prof. Dr. Nebojša Lalić on the subject of the metabolic syndrome, 2 types of diabetes and
dyslipidemia Is it Possible to have an Influend on the Progression of Cardiovascular Diseases? After them Doc. Dr. Vesna
Škodrić Trifunović gave a lecture on antibiotics – The Principles of Rational Antimicrobic Therapy with an accent on our
Amoksiklav Lek 2x.
In the discussion with our guest lecturers, when we asked them about their opinion about this and other similar conferences,
prof. Dr. Nebojša Lalić pointed out the effect of this Section, which is growing more and more and the gathering itself is
gaining in significance from year to year, it is better organized and a great advancement is noted. This is confirmed by the
fact that doctors are more and more interested, the number of participants is increasing, and the quality is also good. The
only thing which is missing in the function of the sections is the direct relation between the expert specialist sections and this
Section of general medicine in the sense of coordination and organization of work, because there is an interest of general
medicine to cooperate with the expert sections and there is a need for the information which the specialist doctors dispose
with in various fields to be given to the colleagues in general medicine, as they are the foundation of the whole system.
Doc. Dr. Vesna Škodrić Trifunović agreed that general medicine is a ''pillar'' i.e. ''base'' of the heath system. This form of
their education is very good, but since it is not possible for all of them to be present – although they all exchange
information among themselves – workshops with specialized questions, discussions about correct and incorrect answers
are necessary and this meaning in their towns, work places, whereby they would have a close contact with the given
issues.
The lecture given by Prof. Dr. Biljana Obrenović Kirćanski was conceived differently: with presentations of cases of patients
supported by conclusions of officially published world studies, which support the applied therapy in the given cases of
patients.
Since all our guests – lecturers agreed about the advantage of the current form of education through the so-called
workshops, we believe that we will continue to organize together with their help very successful meetings and gatherings.

THE ELEVENTH CONGRESS OF HEMATOLOGISTS
The eleventh congress of the Serbian hematologists was held in the Master Center of the Novi Sad Fair end of September,
at which guests from abroad took part besides our most eminent experts in this field.
Our company presented itself on the day which was dedicated to the therapeutic approach in the case of hematological
diseases and aspect of improving the quality of life of patients.

Prof. Dr. Dragomir Marisavljević, the vice-president of Hemofarm, who was the moderator on this occasion with a group of
authors related to the subject Supportive Care for Patients with Malignant Diseases, took part in this part of the congress,
as reports Aleksandra Sadžakov, our brand representative from Novi Sad.
There were around 200 participants and speakers at the congress. Janssen-Cilag, Roche, Novartis, Providens, Bayer
Schering Pharma, Pharmaswiss, Krka, Galenika, Novonordisk, Aventis were also present besides our company.
THE SYMPOSIUM OF ONCOLOGICAL SURGEONS
Our company also had a very good presentation at the recently finished Sixth Symposium of Oncological Surgeons of
Serbia held in Novi Sad, reports Aleksandra Sadžakov, the brand representative in the Hemofarm business cener in Novi
Sad. In the course of the second day of lectures, which was dedicated to melanomas, the history, epidemiology,
morphology, diagnostics, clinical picture and surgical treatment, Hemofarm organized a lecture on Pathophysiological
Aspects of Oncological Patients – Which Nutrition and When. The lecture was held by Doc. Dr. Nikola Radovanović, and
his very interesting presentation was attended by 150 participants at the Symposium.

The first Internet lecture in Serbia in the field of medicine, held in the organization of

WEBINAR ON PULMONARY DISEASES
The first internet lecture (webinar) in the field of medicine was held in Belgrade on September 25 in the organization of the
company Hemofarm. The subject of this lecture, which was given by dr. Sava Nenić, a specialist in internal medicine and
the only subspecialist of the intensive care in our country, as well as the head of the intensive block until recently in the
Institute for Pulmonary Diseases in Sremska Kamenica, was the modern approach in the treatment of outpatient pneumonia
and its hospitalized treatment.
The significance of this lecture is also proven by the fact that pneumonia is one of the leading causes of death in today's
world, the most frequent cause of death among the infectious diseases, and dr. Nenić presented on this occasion the latest
findings about the treatment of this disease. He referred in the course of his lecture to world references in the diagnostics
and treatment of outpatient and hospitalized pneumonia, considering the the current medicine in the world is based on
facts.
Dr. Nenić spoke at the lecture about the more and more frequent problem of the resistence to antibiotics, i.e. the existence
of micro-organism species which are resistent to almost all currently used antibiotics. Dr. Nenić spoke also about the
irrational use of antibiotics, which complicates additionally this problem.
Antibiotics should only be used when there is a strict indication, whereas the length of the therapy should be as short as
possible – pointed out the lecturer.
According to him, new antibiotics which he uses in his work in the USA are ultra expensive and as such do not exist on our
market. Our doctors, according to him, often overuse these very significant medicaments, and a big problem is also the
frequently prolonged therapy.
It is therefore imperative to have continuous education and to keep pace with the new world trends.
90 esteemed doctors from clinical centers and hospitals in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Kragujevac and Podgorica, as well
as representatives of respectable mass media companies followed this lecture via Internet.
The first webinar in the field of medicine organized in this way in Serbia confirmed Hemofarm's orientation towards
constant education both of the expert and the wider public. At the same time, this was just another example how
Hemofarm keeps pace with new technologies.

BANJALUKA MARKS THE WORLD DAY OF THE HEART
With Prevention to Good Health
The city of Banjaluka and the Banjaluka Health Center were hosts on September 30 to the event to mark the World Day of
the Heart for Republika Srpska. Our company had, like each year, an impressive participation in this action, particularly as
a partner on the local level of the Health and Heart Foundation, which was one of the organizers of this event.
The minister of health and social welfare of Republika Srpska, prof. Dr. Ranko Škrbić took also part in marking the World
Day of the Heart under the slogan – Let's Join Efforts for a Healthy Heart, who said that Republika Srpska had organized
itself to fight against cardiovascular diseases back in 1999, which is the year in which a program was established there for
the prevention of this disease.
Reminding the present that heart diseases have fatal outcomes on a world scale for 17.5 million lives, minister Škrbić
added that the Ministry of Health of Republika Srpska and the Health and Heart Foundation would initiate a series of
activities which would be directed towards the youngest population and stressed particularly the role of parents who could
have a chief role in assisting children to control their weight and develop healthy habits starting already from childhood.
The national coordinator for the fight against cardiovascular diseases dr. Duško Vulić said that the fatal outcome due to
heart diseases and cerebral strokes in Republika Srpska has been reduced from 57% to 47.5%, but that the situation was
still to be concerned about, considering that smoking and psychosocial factors as main causes of heart diseases were still
not under control.
Hemofarm had a booth a a local partner of the Health and Heart Foundation in the park, the central place of the event
and our associates handed out to citizens promotional and educational brochures in which causes of hypertension and
arteriosclerosis were given, as well as ways to prevent and treat such diseases – says dr. Saša Urošević, marketing
manager of the Banjaluka region. Apples were also given with the printed brochures by Hemofarm to the citizes with the
slogan – A Healthy Apple for a Healthy Heart , which arose a great interest and sympathy among the citizens in
conclusion to the action to mark the World Day of the Heart in Banjaluka. (A. Đurić)
NOVELTIES IN THE TREATMENT OF RESPIRATORY DISEASES
A mini symposium titled Novelties in Antibiotic Therapy of Respiratory Diseases was held in Podgorica at the beginning of
October, at which pharmacists from Podgorica got acquainted with the new views related to this group of medicaments,
thanks to the lecture given by prof. dr. Branimir Nestorović.
In the continuation of this mini symposium, the Knowledge Team manager, Dr. Dušan Đurić expressed views and facts in
front of about ninety pharmacists and about ten doctors about patients and their behavioural characteristics. The fact that a
group of research works appeared in the second half of the twentieth century, offering convincing evidence that the choice
of a life style means a choice between health and disease, as well as between life and death was used as an introduction
into this subject.
According to what Dr. Dušan Đurić said, health is certainly not just evasion of death, so that counting the number of death
cases, which healthy life styles could have prevented, is just one side of the story.
Strategies of life styles can have a significant role, not just in reducing the risk factors, but also in prevention and in efficient
treatment of diseases – said Dr. Đurić.
He pointed out that optimal health can be defined as ’’a balance of physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intelectual
well-being’’.
Spiritual health covers the existence of the feeling of the meaning of life, ability to give and receive love and the feeling of
good will, as well as mercy for others. Intellectual health is related to studying and achievement in life, which can be
materialized through school, work, hobbies, volunteer work or cultural achievements. Emotional health is related to the

mental state and covers stress in the life of the individual, manner of reaction to stress and ability to relax and enjoy spare
time – said Dr. Đurić.
Following these extremely interesting lectures, an award game was organized, and the socializing and discussions

PRILINDA IN FOCUS
The workshop Prilinda in Focus was held in the club of the General Hospital in Šabac end of September, in which case
presentations were made, reported Hemofarm Press, Savo Milošević, an associate in the Skill Team in the West Balkans.
Three interesting lectures were held in the course of this workshop: Proton Pump Inhibitors in Modern Clinical Practice (doc.
Dr. Miloš Bjelović, Institute for Digestive System Diseases, of the Clinical Center in Serbia), Decrease of risks in
Cardiovascular Patients (case study) – Prilinda in Focus (prof. Dr. Biljana Obrenović – Kirćanski, Institute for Cardiovascular
Diseases of the Clinical Center of Serbia) and HemofarmLogica –A Logical Therapeutic Choice for your Patient (dr.
Ljiljana Ašković, Hemofarm A.D.).
The workshop was conceived in such a manner that two cases were presented – administration of Prilinda and Tulip in
primary prevention, in the case of high risk patients and a case of acute myocardial infarct - administration of Prilinda and
Tulip in secondary prevention.
This way of promotion gives the possibility of therapeutic connection of the HemofarmcardioLogica preparations, where
the preparation dosage is presented through a real case, indications through mention of studies and anticipated benefits
for patients are given.
80 doctors of general medicine, internists, cardiologists and pharmacists attended the gathering in Šabac. They expressed
a particular interest through a questionnaire in cases from practice, medicament status, interreactions and the therapeutic
scope of Prilinda.
According to Milošević there will soon be a couple of more similar workshops, this time in Loznica, Smederevo and
Smederevska Palanka.
Lectures in the form of workshops in all major centers are planned for October and November.
THE NEZAVISNE NOVINE (INDEPENDENT PAPER) DELEGATION VISITS HEMOFARM
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF SUCCESSFUL COOPERATION
The delegation of the company Nezavisne novine headed by the advisor to the director Neven Kopanja and the
marketing director Sanja Blagojević, visited our plant in Banjaluka end of September.
Director Aleksandar Veselinović, marketing manager of the region Dr. Saša Urošević, production chief Sonja Miličević and
the expert associate for public relations Aleksandar Đurić were hosts to the guests and long term business partners from
Nezavisne novine.
The guests had an opportunity to get acquainted with the production process of the medicaments and to convey to the
public the well-known facts, that high quality medicaments in accordance with world standars are produced in Hemofarm
in Banjaluka, a fact supported by the certificates which have been given to Hemofarm Banjaluka.
Following the introduction in which he greeted the guests and thanked them for their visit, director Veselinović pointed out in
particular the obstructions in the establishment of a uniform market of medicaments in Bosnia and Hercegovina which are
manifested by fact that the law on medicaments has not been passed yet on the level of Bosnia and Hercegovina.
It is unbelievable that Hemofarm, although we are registered in Banjaluka, is not treated as a local producer of
medicaments in the Bosnia and Hercegvina federation. It is absurd that we place our medicaments on the markets of EU,
Asia and Africa and cannot do so in the other entity of the same country – pointed out Veselinović.

Despite the problems, director Veselinović still expressed a hope that a law on medicaments would be passed soon,
particularly since this was one of the conditions for the association of BIH with the European Union.
Following pleasant socializing and a visit to the factory, the advisor to the director of Nezavisne novine Neven Kopanja,
handed over to director Veselinović a painting as an acknowledgement of a good business cooperation to date. (A.Đurić)
The Ministry of Health initiates serious control of medicament advertising
THE IMPACT OF ADVERTISING ON CHOICE OF MEDICAMENTS
Some medicaments, methods of treatment or health institutions must not be favoured. The rules are most frequently violated by
the mass media. Penalties are from 150,000 to a million and a half dinars.
The Ministry of Health is beginning a serious control of medicament advertising. All those who continue the old practice –
to attribute in public to medicaments practically ''miraraculous'' effects, guarantee curing, expose patented names of
medicaments, praise their effects to the damage of other similar medicaments, or who deceive the public in any way by
publishing scientifically unproven information – may be penalized by a fine from 150,000 to a million and a half dinars.
Following the regulations on advertising, medicaments cannot be advertised neither by doctors, nor popular public figures.
Presentation must not be made in advertisements of children without adults, nor disturbing sights of changes in the human
body, due to diseases or effects of medicaments.
A consistent implementation of these regulations could fully change our present advertising situation, maybe even cut out
the mainly bought timings on some TV channels, within which terrible sights of changes in the human body are often
broadcast, advertising advertising at the same time ''the most effective'' medicaments.
The rules on advertising are violated most frequently through the mass media, when healthcare workers give information
about medicaments – says Zorica Pavlović, an assistant to the Minister of Health.
The bought televion timings and space in printed mass media are the least sophisticated way of advertising medicaments
and at the same time the least problem for inspectors to penalize such occurrences. The problem occurs with
advertisements through the so-called informative broadcasts or texts, in which doctors or pharmacists pass information
about medicaments, its patented name and advantages in comparison with other similar medicaments through an advisory
story intended for the patients. This is exactly what should be prevented. The producers respect mainly the regulations on
medicament advertising, by avoiding direct advertising, whereas the advertising is mainly done for them by doctors and
pharmacists through statements made in the mass media.
Zorica Pavlović says that the mass media, particularly the electronic ones, violate the regulations already by not indicating
that the timing has been bought. Even in the bought timings it is not allowed to advertise medicaments as ''miraculous''. One
can only mention the generic name of the medicaments, and by no means the patented name or price.
Medicaments, treatment methods nor healthcare institutions can also not be favoured on scientific gatherings. Our
inspectors reacted recently, because a scientific gathering had an advertising character already in its announcement and
was dedicated to the advantages of one therapy as compared to another. Scientific gatherings must above all be
educational. Producers have the right to acquaint the expert public with new preparations, but only under conditions
stipulated by the law on medicaments and the regulations on advertising – explained Zorica Pavlović..

Following the European example.
Practically all the provisions of the regulations on advertising medicaments have been taken over from the European
documents. Our regulations are only stricter in the part related to sponsoring scientific gatherings, because expert
gatherings at which scientific achievements should be presented have often been transformed in our country to promotions

of medicaments. It has now been stipulated precisely that advertisers of medicaments can pay doctors for the necessary
travelling costs to the expert gathering, accomodation and board and partipation fee and as regards the travel to a
scientific gathering, which had been transformed to a complete tourist package until now, a doctor can now only take one
day to go and one day to come back.
MEMORIES
On the occasion of my retirement, after 34 years of employment in Hemofarm, I would
like to express some of my memories, related to my work in this company, which may be
of interest to my younger colleagues.
I came to Hemofarm first in July 1970 (location across the railway station).
As a third year student of chemistry at the Natural Sciences – Mathematics Faculty, I
came to do my practice in the Hemofarm laboratory for one month.
My impressions which date back from that time were: a well organized company in
which work, order and discipline are respected.
The beautiful surroundings of the factory, nice park and garden, as well as a volley ball
court on which we would throw a few balls over the net after lunch time are beautiful
memories.
I started working in Hemofarm in September 1973 as a graduate chemist at the post of
an analyst in the laboratory.
The laboratory had four employees at that time, I was the fifth.
The equipment we had was modest in comparison with the one existing today, but it was precious for us, and we kept it
and maintained as the greatest treasure.
The number of the employees in the laboratory increased to about twenty with the changeover to the new factory in 1976,
we got bigger rooms and new laboratory equipment. It was necessary to master the production of infusions and
liophilisates and thereby also to master over new analytic techniques (flame photometry, gas and liquid chromatography,
polarometry ...).
The amino analyzer was the most significant apparatus which served us to determine the content of amino acids, of which
there were about twenty in a mixture in amino steriles. We had to calculate the long way the content of each amino acid,
counting the dots which constituted the peak surface, because there were no integrators.
The columns were glass instead of the metal ones used today, so you can image our problems if the glass broke.
A microbiology laboratory was established simultaneously with the mastering over of the new technologies and new
analyzing techniques and the process control and quality assurance department were introduced.
In 1982 the plant for the production of the dialysers was opened, which meant that we too, in the control, had to master
the analyses for the control of the dialysers and AV systems. I remember the meetings of the pharmaceutical section of JUSK
(The Association for Standardisation and Quality). The members were the representatives of quality control from all
pharmaceutical companies of the former Yugoslavia: Galenika, Pliva, Krka, Lek, Zorka, Zdravlje, Alkaloid, BosnaLijek, and
Jugoremedija.
Besides expert issues which we discussed (making monographs for the control of raw materials and packing material), we
exchanged also experience from daily practice. The meetings were held each time in another factory, thus we got to know
the whole former Yugoslavia. I would like to point out that we travelled mainly by train or bus.
We would celebrate the end of our counsellings by a joint dinner and dance the national dance Kolo Od Vardara pa do
Triglava (From Vardar to Triglav).
I also remember the trip to Germany in 1989 which was organized by the company Schott, an ampule producer. About
forty of us, representatives from the control, production and purchase sectors from all pharmaceutical companies went to
Zagreb by bus.

The trip did not take long as we sang and chatted all the way.
We studied the production and control processes in Schott and the contacts we established then, still last.
Following the well-known events in our country, I have kept contact with all colleagues – we like to get in touch and
exchange experience, about some methods, purchase of chemicals etc.
The quality control has presently about one hundred employees, with an incomparably greater number of apparatuses, all
relevant techniques which are applied to the control of pharmaceutical products in the aim of providing top quality.
The introduction of the information system Hefis, ISO standard, implementation of the GMP and GLP standards, MCA,
SGS, FDA inspections and the introduction of SAP have all been constituent segments of our work in closest cooperation
with the colleagues from the production, purchasing, storage and other departments.
When I look back at the end of my service to path I have covered, I can conclude that I have had the honour and
satisfaction to work in a company which has had an outstanding development in this period.
I have made many friends and colleagues with whom I have tried to contribute to our Hemofarm and I wish to thank them
all for their cooperation.
I particularly wish to thank the president of Hemofarm, Mr. Miodrag Babić.
I wish Hemofarm to continue developing, to employ young people, who should also have their chance in the future to work
in Hemofarm and materialize their wishes and dreams, like I have materialized mine.

THE PAST IN THE FUNCTION OF THE FUTURE
When the first, initial steps in the redefinition of the total state of the existing Hemofarm archives was made at the beginning
of February 2003, in the dilapidated and dark depot of the old plant, no one was able to even guess that there would be
as many as five official archive depots within the coming four and a half calender years, with a fund of over 20,000 files,
several thousand projects, personal dossiers, book-keeping journals, stamps and other archive documents originating from
the first day of the establishment of Hemofarm.
A great advance was made with the official opening of the Central Archive Depot. The many archive issues and problems
were resolved in the course of events step by step, from one month to another, always in accordance with the specific
republic regulations and under regular inspection supervision of the Historic Archives. After 18 years of validity of the
previous regulations, a decisive Set of Regulations about the Collection, Expert Filing and Archive Records became
effective in May 2005. Simultaneously, the mandatory electronic forms Power of Attorney and Inventory List of Archive
Documents are established on our Internet, without which it is impossible to discuss archive matters. Only authorized
people in divisions and departments are allowed to perform the required operations related to the hand over, insight and
use of archive documents.
Hemofarm A.D. disposes today with state of the art equipped archive depots. Four archive depots located in the
Hemograd settlement, have extremely large facilities and functionality, with modern equipent security and fire alarm
systems. The current value of the existing archive documents is invaluable. Archive documents (written, drawn, printed,
photographed, filmed or recorded in other ways) which are significant for history, culture and other social requirements
and are the result of the work of trade companies are collected, selected, expertly maintained and filed. The regular
annual recording of valueless file material (which has becom invalid for the current operation, which has lost its operative
value, and have not been evaluated as archive documents) is done following the List of Categories of File Material with
Timeframes for their Keeping, thus all possibilities of longer keeping of unnecessary documents is excluded, which was in
essence also one of the greatest problems in the past.

It is impossible to discuss today the archive issues without mentioning the person who deserves most credit for obvious
positive results and introduced innovation in the work.
An associate in the archive work Igor Maričić points out that he had all the time an unreserved and sincere support of his
many colleagues, directors, in the beginning Zvonimir Golubović and today Marko Milojević and managers of the legal
matters Stevan Vukmirov, without whom, as he points out, the whole story would never have had such a great advancement
and success:
We have been thinking like chess players from the first day, making moves ahead avoiding thereby a series of mistakes in
creating the foundation for all future capital individual aspects. The initial need to widen the awareness in the company with
respect to the significance of the archive documents, change in the approach in making it and the respect of the valid set of
rules, taken into consideration from today's perspective, seems distant enough. Today, when the archive work has been
given its right place and is stable, it is possible for us to think about the future more peacefully and creatively. The archive
fund will soon be extremely increased with the hand over of the personal dossiers and other archive documents of the
former share holders, and there are also plans for the opening of a new official archive depot as well as expert assistance
in the opening of the supporting Cabinet archive – says Maričić.
The story about the archive operations does not end here, on the contrary, it is as if it is beginning, because along with the
presence of progressive ideas, it is impossible to discontinue the endeavours to achieve greater results every new day.
HEMOFARM AT THE GATHERING DEDICATED TO VUK KARADŽIĆ
Hemofarm showed once again its readiness to help the preservation of the national cultural treasure, as well as the name
and work of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić with its financial support of the 73 rd gathering dedicated to Vuk, who had given like
Dositej Obradović, the greatest contribution to the early Serbian literature and culture.
As is well-known, our company was the initiator and one of the founders of the Dositej Obradović Foundation, the primary
goal of which is to preserve from oblivion and restore the work of the first Serbian enlightener. It is at the very suggestion of
our Foundation, that 2007 has been proclaimed by the government of Serbia as the Year of Dositej.
Despite the regular and unselfish support of our company to the Dositej Obradović Foundation itself, Hemofarm responded
this time to another event of national significance.
As an expression of gratitude to our company, the organizers of Vuk’s Gathering, dedicated one day of the Gathering to
Hemofarm. Our booth was placed for this occasion in the Cultural Center Vuk Karadžić in Loznica on the third day of the
gathering, which many interested residents of the Loznica municipality approached during the whole program. They were
of course interested in many of our products, and mostly in the product range from the concept My Pharmacy, which was
also the main idea of the booth itself. Of course, the youngest visitors were interested in our teddy bear and chocolates
exhibited on the booth. The associates of the Hemofarm PR Center and the Promotion Team gave some of them, who took
part in the program, the teddy bear, caps and many other small gifts, which brought joy to the children. Dajana Đedović,
the director of the Cultural Center Vuk Karadžić from Loznica, which is the organizer of the Vuk’s Gathering, thanked our
company on this occasion in a statement given to Hemofarm Press, for having recognized the significance of this event
and for helping it as a sponsor to be held.
Vuk’s Gathering is the oldest cultural event in Serbia, but what characterises the 73 rd Vuk’s Gathering is our effort to give
this gathering a new form, which consists in the attempt to revalue the significance of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić. Not in the
sense of decreasing his significance, but to direct people to this positive energy which he brought as a creator and which
arose a lot of commotion in Europe in the 19 th century by his creative work and creativeness. These first days are passing in
this spirit, in our attempt to present our most valuable Serbian heritage and to joint this energy at one place. And that place
is Vuk’s Gathering where we gather from different parts and cross the energy with various things. In this sense the friends of
the Gathering, such as Hemofarm, are an enormous support to us, as we are all engaged in some creative work, and why
shouldn’t then at the Gathering each piece of such work, invested energies, positive things be the very things which
constitute Serbia. This positive energy, not destruction, not some past stories, some worlds which have been lived a long

time ago. This is a new story, new contents, new people who really want to work. Thus, friends are so much more precious
to us. Hemofarm recognized friends in us this year and these two hands joined at the Gathering give a new energy and
new contents. We are very glad to have you here today with us in Loznica and we hope that we will make really good
things also in the coming years in which we will find each other. Loznica and Tršić are open for cooperation, and Vuk
Stefanović Karadžić as an open metaphor, a place for the meeting of all people - pointed out Mrs. Đedović for
Hemofarm Press.

guidelines about our ideas for the 73 rd gathering and very shortly we got your positive reply. We are very grateful to you

TRIBUTE TO PAJA JOVANOVIĆ
A painting exhibition – Tribute to Paja Jovanović was opened in the Hemofarm gallery on September 19, on the occasion
of the 50th anniversary of the grape harvest in Vršac. As Gordana Lazić Velovan, the director of the Hemofarm PR Center,
pointed out while announcing the exhibition, our company shows in various ways how much we respect our town, and
with this exhibition in the year which is the 50th anniversary of the grape harvest in Vršac, but also the 50th anniversary of
the death of Paja Jovanović, we wanted to show respect to the greatest Serbian, and Yugoslav painter, as well as to
contribute to the cultural program of the Grapeball.
It is a great pleasure for me that we have here a very attractive exhibition of four painters, Vasa Dolovački, Vladimir Dunjić,
Milan Tucović and Tomislav Suhecki, painters who foster figuration, relying thereby on what Paja Jovanović introduced –
said Mrs. Velovan.
Sreto Bošnjak, an art historian and art critic, who opened officially the exhibition, thanked on this occasion our company,
i.e. the Hemofarm gallery, for its contribution to the development of the Serbian painting.
The Hemofarm gallery has been supporting for years events which are a serious contribution to the popularization and
value of modern art. This gallery has thereby entered a social process by which art is striving for its place – said Mr.
Bošnjak, pointing out that the four mentioned painters were the most popular artists of their generation.
The exhibition has been well conceived as the authors are the spiritual followers of the ideas and ideals which Paja
Jovanović represented in his work end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Their work present a defence of
painting and provocation of antipainting policy, and they defend the figural concept of painting by authentic artistic poetics
and painting language, as Paja Jovanović did. They defend painting by their spirit, love and power which surpass the
physical power of literature. Each painting exhibited here is attractive because it has been done in a masterful way, and
the painters themselves are slightly metaphysician, who show by their paintings that the spirit is dominant on the painting,
and not the visual scene. Those are paintings which show that man is a spiritiual being – said Mr. Bošnjak.
Mr. Suhecki pointed out that it was hard to hold out with this painting style within the concept of modern tendencies in
Serbia during the last twenty years, because there is a lack of interest in this kind of artistic practice and painting.
That's what happened with Paja Jovanović too, who was haunted and criticized in the period between the two wars, but
he remained persistent. Painting is not fashion. It exists because of the permanent need of the human being to recognize its
latent abilities which are activated only by images. An Image is a primeval value – pointed out Mr. Suhecki, thanking
Hemofarm for the significant contribution to the restitution of painting in Serbia.
SLAVISTS IN VRŠAC
A group of about fifty students, post graduate students and professors of the Slavic languages from 14 countries in the
world visited our company and the town Vršac on September 6 in the organization of the Hemofarm PR and the Dositej
Obradović Foundation. They came from Roumania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Russia, England,

France, Austria, Germany, Iraly, Greece and Korea to Serbia to the traditional, already 37th gathering of Slavists which is
always held in Belgrade in September.
The initiative for this kind of gatherings, as well as the establishment of the International Slavistic Center originated from prof.
Slobodan Ž. Marković, a retired professor at the Faculty of Philology.
All these students study the Serbian language and literature in their groups at universities, and these gatherings, as well as
this time's visit to Vršac, were an opportunity for them to further advance their knowledge of our language, and to get
acquainted with the culture, tradition and customs of the country the language of which they are studying.
Following a brief acquaintance of our company, above all as a corporately responsible company, through a presentation,
the guests from the world visited Vladičanski dvor, the church of St. Nicholas, Sterija's house, the pharmacy on stairways,
the Municipal Library, the church of St. Gerhard and the Hotel Villa Breg and they looked at the panorama from the Breg,
which made, as it seems, the biggest impression. Full of impressions, the guests left Vršac, promising that they would always
be glad to come back to this town, full of interesting aspects.
Vana Vođeva from Stara Zagora in Bulgaria, who studies in Plovdiv, was fascinated both by Vršac and Hemofarm, and
she was particularly impressed by the Vršac cathedral.
Klara Nekula, who studies the Serbian and Russian languages and literatures on the Faculty of Philology in Bucharest, said
for Hemofarm Press that it was very interesting in our company and that our workers were very kind and forward. She was
like Feata Filućak mostly impressed with the cathedral.
I liked best the buildings such as Vladičanski dvor, but also the church of St. Nicholas. There are many buildings like them in
the Czech Republic, and I also liked a lot the Square, which was actually restored, according to what I heard, by
Hemofarm – pointed out Dajana Vasiljevićeva from Czech Republic, a third year student of the Prague Faculty of Philology.
Evgenija Parina, a third year student of the Serbian language and literature, from St. Petersburg was very fascinated with
our town and company and so much so that she would like to work in Hemofarm as soon as she finishes her studies. She
explained for our paper that she did not know anything at the beginning about the Serbian language, except that it
belonged to the group of Slavic languages, and then she fell in love with our language.
I am here now and now I may also fall in love with the country. I am here for the first time and I like Hemofarm very much,
what a clean, big and modern company it is. It was obvious that it was a strong company. You are very kind and nice to
children and the environment and I was very fascinated by this. I have already asked whether I could work in your
company when I graduated the Serbian language. Also, I did a paper on the subject of Jovan Sterija Popović and I
regreted very much when I saw that his house had not become a museum. I also liked the library in Vršac and particularly
the Square – said Parina.

INSOMNIA LEADS TO MENTAL PROBLEMS
It has been published in recent studies that chronical insomnia could be a sign for some people of wider mental problems,
such as depression and anxiety.
25,000 adult Norwegians took part in these studies. It was noted in the research that those who had reported problems
with chronical insomnia in the first part of the study, had a greater chance of noting problems with depression and anxiety
in the second part of the study.
This could mean, according to the opinion of the researchers, that insomnia could increase in the future the risk of the
occurrence of anxiety, as well as that we are dealing here with people who are very susceptible to developing the anxiety
symptoms.

These results were published in the medical journal Sleep.
It is well known that problems with insomnia are common in the case of people who suffer from depression, anxiety or
certain mental problems. However, insomnia can also lead to depression and anxiety.
Scientists have reached these conclusions having analyzed around 25,000 people, older than 20 years.
The participants were analyzed firstly in the period between 1984 and 1986 and then between 1995 and 1997. Anxiety
and depression were measured in the course of the second part of the research, using standard questions which could
confirm this condition.
The researchers concluded thus that insomnia leads to anxiety in the future, but not also to depression. Actually, they
believe that it does not lead to depression, but that depression already exists and that insomnia and depression go
together.
It is their view therefore, that it is very important to start treating insomnia immediately, however not with the aid of
medicaments, but instead with cognitive behavioural therapy.
ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE IS MORE FREQUENT AMONG
THE DEPRESSED AND BAD-TEMPERED
People who are frequently under stress or are susceptible to depression have a greater chance of having problems later in
life with memory as compared to those who have a brighter disposition, has been published recently by researchers from
the States, who have thrown new light on earlier knowledge about Alzheimer disease with this conclusion.
These researchers found that people who suffer from depression or anxiety have a 40 times greater chance of developing
impaired cognitive abilities, weakened memory and occurrence of something which is a frequent transition from ordinary
aging and dementia.
Not only do such people lose cognition, but they also show many changes in the brain which are related to Alzheimer
disease, says Robert Wilson from the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
In some earlier studies, Wilson found that people who were more exposed to stress or were more susceptible to it, were in
greater danger of getting the Alzheimer’s disease, than those who had a slightly brighter attitude to life.
People with slightly impaired cognitive abilities have problems with remembering things, but do not have serious disorders.
And what is also very important to mention is that not all people with such impairment, develop the Alzheimer’s disease, but
there are still 10 to 15 percent of them, as is indicated by the Association Fighting against the Alzheimer’s Disease.
Wilson and his colleagues analyzed data from two big studies in which 1256 people were included, who did not have
problems with memory at the beginning of the study.
After about 12 years, 482 people, participants in the study, developed a slight impairment of cognitive abilities. Those
were people who had a tendency towards excessive anxiety and depression.
What we measured on this occasion were some personal traits, which each one of us have to a greater or lesser degree.
All of us have anxieties or are depressed at times. This trait helps us establish in which people is it more expressed. This is
not a measure of stress in people, but a reaction to stress – said Wilson.
Recent research has found that chronical stress may cause harm to the part of the brain which is responsible to reaction to
stress, and this is a part of the brain which is related to memory – explained Wilson.
Of course, this phenomenon has not been completely clarified, but it certainly contributes to the quality of early therapy
and introduction of some novelties, as a promotion of exercises as a solution to stress, or therapy with medicaments for
those who are susceptible to depression.
This can certainly contribute to a delay of the occurrence of this serious disease – said Wilson.

A LOW COST METHOD OF DETECTION OF UTERINE CERVIX CANCER
Scientists have found in London that there are much cheaper ways than the pap smear test and colposcopy for the
detection of uterine cervix cancer.
Namely, the uterine cervix cancer, as is asserted in these studies, can also be detected with the aid of acetic acid, cotton
gauze and a strong light. This method, as they claim, can save millions of women who can afford modern examinations.
This study, which was published in The Lancet Medical Journal, shows a simple visual screening test, with the aid of which it
is possible to determine the early signs of uterine cervix cancer, which can help reduce the total number of cases of this
disease by a quarter.
This study is a turning point in the prevention of uterine cervix cancer – said Dr. Harshad Sanghvi, the medical director of
JHPIEGO, an international health organization which deals with the prevention of the uterine cervix cancer in the poorer
countries, following the publishing of the study.
Anyway uterine cervix cancer can really be prevented if the first signs are detected early. At least 250,000 women die of
this disease per year and more than 80% of the diseased come from the developing countries.
This visual screeing test can be done by nurse or a person trained to give healthcare assistance and this is done by firstly
washing the cervix with the aid of gauze and acetic acid, using a speculom to keep the cervix open. Following one minute
in case of precancerous lesions they become very white and can be seen by naked eyes with the help of a halogene
lamp. Researchers from France have used this method with the assistance of their colleagues from India as a screening test
in the case of 49,311 women in the period from 2000 to 2003. When they saw lesions, they eliminated them straight
away. Other 30,958 women were sent for detection of the first signs and symptoms of uterine cervix cancer as well as for
regular visits to institutions where screening was made possible for them. These women were followed in the period from
2000 to 2006.
167 cases of uterine cervix cancer were noted among them, as well as 83 deaths from this disease. There were 92 death
cases among those who did not follow-up their condition and have the screening. This shows that there were 35 percent
fewer deaths among women who had screening as compared to those who did not. Also, there were 25 percent fewer
cases of cancer among them.
All the women in the study were healthy and were aged between 30 and 59, when the study began.
This screening, as the scientists say, proved to be as efficient as the pap smear test, which is a much more expensive
technique which is applied in the West and entails taking cells from the cervix so as to be studied under a microscope in a
laboratory.
It is possible to drastically reduce the rate of diseased from uterine cervix cancer by this ‘’new’’ test – pointed out Sanghvi.
Experts believe that this low cost method can also be applied in modern countries, just as it is applied in the developing
ones.
This study has given us guidelines as to how we can detect at low cost the first changes on the cervix, yet this method is not
perfect. There are many mistakes and possibilities for changes not to be cancerous and therefore the medical workers
would have to be well trained in this field. Also, this test could not be applied in the case of menopause women, nor in the
case of those who have had more than two, three children, because in their cases the changes on the cervix occur in those
zones which are not visible to the naked eye – said Dr. David Kerr, professor of Clinical Pharmacology at Oxford.
Still, he admitted, the pap smear test is really expensive for women from poorer countries.
DARK CHOCOLATE REDUCES BLOOD PRESSURE
Following serious studies, scientists have determined in Germany that cooking chocolate reduces blood pressure, but the
quantity required for this effect to be achieved is less than one chocolate cube. The health benefit of dark chocolate has

een known for a long time, however this was the first time that mention was made of the fact that a tiny amount of
chocolate can really help.
The participants in the study ate just 6 grams of chocolate everyday over five months and at the end of the study, those who
ate dark chocolate had a lower blood pressure than those who ate white chocolate.
Dr. Dirk Taubert, who led the project, pointed out that the blood pressure reduction by this method was not big, but was
certainly significant for the reduction of the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
The research covered 44 people, aged from 56 to 73 and the results were practically the same as found in some previous
studies in which it was determined that cocoa, the main ingredient of chocolate, contains flavanol which also contributes to
the good heart condition.
The only problem is that chocolate has a lot of calories, thus Taubert and his colleagues foresaw in this study that only a
small piece of chocolate be taken, of only 30 calories.
After publishing these results in the American Medical Association Journal, experts requested that a similar experiment be
conducted among a greater, ethnically diverse population.
First of all, these results should not be understood as a permission to overeat chocolate. I would be happy if I had to eat
chocolate for health reasons, but I am afraid that an increased weight would cause me more harm – said Dr. Laura
Svetkley, the director of the Duke University’s Hypertension Center.
How did the experiment actually go?
The people who participated in the experiment were healthy people, of normal weight with slight hypertension. The
average blood pressure at the beginning of the study was 147 to 86.
Everyday, for about 18 weeks, half of the participants ate a small portion of dark chocolate, and the other half the same
amount of white chocolate, which does not contain cocoa. After 18 weeks, the upper pressure went down by three
degrees and the lower by two in the case of those who ate dark chocolate, whereas there were no significant changes in
the case of those who ate white chocolate.
Of course, the participants were also asked to keep daily diaries of their meals, so that it could be determined whether
some other food items had an impact on the blood pressure reduction. Unfortunately, they were not able to draw another
conclusion. The only other aspect which contributed to the blood pressure reduction was a decreased intake of salt in the
case of some participants and weight loss.
OBESITY IS CONTAGIOUS
Scientists have reached a very interesting conclusion throughout the world. Namely, a couple of the latest research have
shown that if you have friend, whom you see frequently, and who has gained surplus kilograms, there is a great chance
that the same will happen to you too. The same goes for spouses, as well as for siblings, although the influence among
them is smaller.
This is by the way one of the first studies which shows how obesity spreads through social contacts also, pointed out James
Fowler, from the University of California, who worked on this study.
As he pointed out, this research is a kind of proof that obesity is contagious, but not in the sense of a viral infection, but in
the sense of the impact of social contacts.
These results can explain to a certain degree the significant increase of obesity in the States, where there are officially
around two thirds of overweight obese people and almost a third of obese ones.
There is more and more frequently assertions about an obesity epidemic and we are now really beginning to be
concerned about it really being an epidemic – said Dr. Nicholas Christakis, a professor of medical sociology at Harvard
Medical School in Boston.
Christakis and Fowler included in this study 12,067 people, mainly whites, from middle-class and from Massachusetts.

Record was taken of their health condition and habits at the beginning of 1948 and in 1971 their spouses and children
were invited to join the study, as well as their closest friends. It was noted that the probability was that 57 percent of their
closest friends had also gained weight in the last 32 years.
This effect had an impact as far as the third generation of friends, i.e. if a friend of an obese person had also become
obese, then his other friend would also become obese, and this within a much shorter period than 32 years.
These conclusions only confirmed the belief that obesity was not an individual problem anymore, but a problem of the
society – said Christakis.
This problem is the same even if the best friends were 500 kilometers apart and what the scientists pointed out was that
there would be no impact on you if you had an obese neighbour.
THE HEMOFARM DONATION TO THE SMEDEREVO HEALTH CENTER
AIR-CONDITIONERS FOR PATIENTS
In response to the appeals of the Health Center Sveti Luka in Smederevo, published in mass media, our Company reacted
promptly and donated eight air-conditioners to this health center at the time of the greatest summer heats.
Thanks to the prompt reaction, above all of the Hemofarm PR Center, the work itself at the hospital was and will be
significantly faciliated, and the patients of the health center will be able to put up better with their health problems.
With this humane gesture, Hemofarm showed again a high degree of care and responsibility for the health of people.
Besides providing a modern and efficient therapy for patients, Hemofarm supports the education of medical staff, and of
the whole population, and provides in various ways a better operation of health institutions throughout Serbia. In
cooperation with the Hemofarm Foundation, which has been operating successfully for 15 years, our company supports
the purchase of required equipment for hospitals and clinics. Thus the health center in Knić got a modern spirometer and
Hemofarm participated in the restoration of the surgical block in the health center in Vršac.
We are well-known for high quality, efficient and reliable medicaments of the latest generation, which are produced in
plants of the highest technological level following the GMP regulations, but we are also famous for the enviable
responsibility towards the social community, which we have been showing for a long time ago, much before the corporate
social responsibility was defined – said Gordana Lazić Velovan, the Hemofarm PR Center director.

pointed out that this support was more than necessary since the condition of patients in most departments was becoming

The decision made by our directors is to give all the air-conditioners which we get in the coming period through donations
only to patients and patients' rooms. Five of the eight air-conditioners will be placed in patients' rooms in the internal
department, surgery, children's department, in the psychiatry and the maternity departments. Three air-conditioners will be
for general medicine, because our clinics, where we have a large number of patients, are also without air-conditioners.
One clinic in the central facility of general medicine will get an air-conditioner this time, and two air-conditioners will go to
the health center – explained Dr. Đorđević.
Donate blood, Enrich your Life
Considering that the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Serbia makes more frequent appeals to the public for blood donation
in the course of the summer holidays due to blood shortages, the company Hemofarm organized for the second time this
year end of August a voluntary blood donation within its plant in Vršac.

Despite the high temperatures and the fact that many workers were on annual leave, 86 Hemofarm workers participated in
the event Donate Blood, Enrich your Life.
96 employees took part on the previous occasion of voluntary blood donation, and there will be another action of this kind
by the end of this year.
As a reminder, our company organizes traditionally every year voluntary blood donation also on the occasion of the
World Day of Voluntary Blood Donors.
The fact that at least 300 workers donate blood in the course of the year just within the headquarters of our company
inVršac shows how aware our workers are of the problem of the shortage of this precious liquid in the Serbian healthcare.

Children from Kosmet Visit Hemofarm
Thanks to the Association of Women from Kosovo and Metohija, twenty children from Kosovo and Metohija,
accomodated in the collective centers in Pančevo and the Belgrade settlement Krnjača, went on summer holidays to the
Red Cross resort on Vršački breg.
Children aged from 7 to 15 spent seven days in this beautiful resort, from August 23 to 30, and during their stay they
visited many cultural-historic monuments of our town and its surroundings and socialized with about forty youngsters from
the Vršac municipality, who stayed in the same facility at the same time.
The children from Kosmet told their hosts that they would also like to visit the medicament factory Hemofarm and their wish
was fulfilled. During the visit to Hemofarm, our guests from Kosmet had an opportunity to visit the plant for injection
products. The youngsters were impressed by the state of the art technology in our plant, but also with the presents which the
PR Center prepared for them.
The Secretary of the Association of Women, Zorica Šarić, pointed out that this was an opportunity for the boys and girls
from our southern province to get away for at least seven days from the grey, grim daily life and atmoshpere of the refugee
centers in Krnjača and Pančevo.
-Luckily, there are always companies and people of good will, who understand how important it is for these tormented
children to get a break and have a holiday. Those who wanted and wished, offered their help. I hope taht those who did
not care about the Kosmet children until now, will do so next summer. Among the ones who helped was also the company
Hemofarm, which made the holiday for the youngsters without a real home unforgetable – said Šarić.

A new surgical block in the health center in Vršac
HEMOFARM'S SUPPORT TO THE HEALTHCARE IN VRŠAC
The completion of the works on the construction of the new surgical block in the health center in Vršac was marked by a
festive ceremony in July. This entails a modern concept of surgical facilities following European standards and all licences
required for even the most demanding operations. The new surgical block has been built from the funds of the fourth
voluntary contribution for healthcare in the municipality of Vršac.
The old surgical block was opened in 1964 and since then until the present voluntary contribution there had not been any
significant investments. In March 2004 a commission of the Ministry of Health issued a decision in which the health center
in Vršac was instructed to provide the technical-construction conditions, i.e. to bring the space into a state which would
provide safe treatment and fulfill the defined conditions for the performance of healthcare services.
In such circumstance the management of the health center in Vršac contacted Hemofarm asking it for expert assistance,
which Miodrag Babić accepted unreservedly. Hemofarm Engineering made a preliminary projection of activities in April
2004 and suggested the technical – technological solution based on which five surgical rooms with follow-up facilities
would be built on an area of 855 square meters. Hemofarm engaged in June of the same year Mrs. Ursula Dul from an
Austrian design company, who made the functional plan, a modern, European and economic solution including the
international standard. Parallely with the building we purchased also the equipment – said dr. Slavko Timotijević, a doctor
from the health center in Vršac who thanked afterwards Hemofarm, which had given besides the expertise support, also
100,000 dollars for the building and equipment of the surgical block.
The president of Hemofarm, Miodrag Babić congratualted on the victory of work, expertise and enthusiasm, and then he
pointed out the significance of the implementation of the European standards in healthcare in our environment.
I wish that we could shorten the investment time in the future, when we already have secure sources. This was not possible
earlier, but now it is. This would be the greatest expression of gratitude to the citizens of Vršac who have accepted a
voluntary contribution for the fifth time for healthcare, that we use the funds rationally and quickly and invest them for the
benefit of all of us – said Babić.
The president of the municipality Jovica Zarkula congratulated the company Rasing from Vršac on the well done job, and
then the director of the hospital and his associates.
The municipality of Vršac has given its contribution as much as it could. This is a great day for all in the region. The fourth
voluntary contribution has been materialized, and proof that we have been on the right track is that the citizens of Vršac
accepted for the fifth time the voluntary contribution for healthcare, which would be spent on equipping the healthcare
center and the clinics on the territory of the whole municipality. We are one of the rare municipalities which resolves the
problems in healthcare by voluntary contributions, and this is proof of the awareness of the citizens and therefore I wish to
thank them for their trust – pointed out Zarkula.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, proclaimed the health center in Vršac last year at the National
Conference on the Advancement of the Quality of Healthcare as the best hospital in Serbia on a territory of up to
100,000 people.

The basketball club Hemofarm celebrates 15 years of existence and operation
The basketball club Hemofarm got a new name just
before its start in the NLB league, by adding the name
of the new sponsor, the German company STADA to
its name. Following what Miodrag Babić said, the club
will have high goals in accordance with the ambitions
of the serious sponsors in its name.
It has been decided at the annual assembly of the
club to introduce the name of the sponsor of the club,
the company STADA, to the group of which
Hemofarm belongs as of August last year. This is a
group which is primarily European with its
headquarters in Germany in Bad Vilbel, close to
Frankfurt. Its daughter companies are located in about
twenty countries throughout Europe and the world. Thus, it is a question of a multinational company with about 10,000
employees. The inclusion of Hemofarm into its family in August last year, was a big event, not just judging by the price at
which the transition was carried out to the satisfaction of our share holders, but also because Hemofarm came with its
valuable facilities and high level production which is in accordance with the highest standards, existing in the STADA group
– explained the president of the assembly of the basketball club Hemofarm STADA and the president of Hemofarm AD,
and then he pointed out that this also had an impact on the structure of employees, because the company Hemofarm has a
total of 3,000 workers, with full time employment and with engagement on a limited time basis, which makes Hemofarm
the biggest employer in Vršac.
I believe that it is very important that STADA has accepted to be a sponsor of the club, considering its international
engagement, quality of play and the results it achieved in the past 15 years. Naturally I had to present to them such
marketing significance so as to achieve a high level of investment. This is a great relief for the club, as STADA will
participate in a significant percentage, with as much as 40% in the costs of the club, the men's and women's teams. This will
enable us to strengthen ourselves to the maximum and to go for the achievement of the best results, not just this season, but
also to continue for many other seasons – said the president.
Talking to the mass media, Mr. Babić indicated that STADA is operating throughout Europe – Russia, Germany, Turkey,
England, Spain, Italy, Serbia the region of former Yugoslavia, i.e. countries in which ULEB cup is played and that he hoped
that Hemofarm STADA would soon play in the Euro league. A special accent was given to the obligations of the club
management, players and coaches to put in maximum effort and be aware at all times that serious sponsors ar behind
them.
We wish to build up young players in the coming season besides achieving good results and here I would like to praise
coach Nikolić and the young players such as Boban Marjanović and Stefan Marković, who have brought us success in
advance, with the gold medal of the Serbian national team at the World Championship for young players, as well as all
the other Hemofarm representatives who have given their contribution to the activities of the Basketball Association of
Serbia. I regret that our seniors did not do better, but we hope that this is a good start for a new beginning, and Hemofarm
STADA will do its best to give as many players for the national teams – pointed out the president of the club assembly.

against Bamberg Bros Baskets:
It was a pleasure for me while we were in Frankfurt to watch the broadcast of the match from Bamberg and follow the
score with the president of STADA Group, Mr. Hartmut Retzlaff. It was obvious that our cooperation was a result of a
natural relationship, because they were also a big sponsor of the football club Eintraht, and now they were also present in
basketball – said Mr. Babić.
At the end of the annual assembly of the club, director Marko Ivanović, pointed out the goals in this season following which
a position in the ULEB cup is expected from coach Nikolić, through the NLB league, success in the group and the best
possible positioning in this season of the ULEB cup, winning the Korać cup and winning the Super League, whereas a
double crown is traditionally expected from the selection of Marina Maljković.
A festive reception in Vršac for the members of the representative teams
The Young ones are a great pride of Banat
Jovica Zarkula, the president of the Vršac municipality and Miodrag Babić, the president of the Hemofarm concern and
assembly of the basketball club with the same name, organized a festive reception at the beginning of August for the
members of Hemofarm and Swisslion Takovo, who had won medals at world and European championships in the course
of the summer in the younger representative teams.
The president of the Hemofarm foundation, Dragomir Ćurčić, many guests, parents and friends of the Vršac representatives
attended the reception besides the Hemofarm and Swisslion representatives.
As a municipality, we are extremely proud of having in our territory such a developed basketball and so many
representatives who have achieved great results – pointed out Jovica Zarkula and added:
The Hemofarm basketball club has been among the best ones in our basketball. Now the time has come for the Vršac
basketball players to also win the best medals in the national teams and we are grateful to them for that.
Miodrag Babić, the president of Hemofarm and the assembly of the basketball club of the same name, thanked the
winners of the medals.
This is a special time for all players and their coaches who managed to achieve such great results. These successes remind
me of the period when I, as the president of the Basketball Association of the big Yugoslavia of that time, was proud of the
generation which won the world championship of the young. I am sure that a great perspective is ahead of us. Your results
are a pride of the town, club and Hemofarm company – said Babić.
To mark the occasion prizes were given for the gold won at the World Championship in Novi Sad to Miroslav Nikolić,
Branko Maksimović, Miodrag Rajković and Bogdan Bulj (Hemofarm) who were in the expert team of the junior national
team, Siniša Perić and Marijana Kardoš (Swisslion Takovo), physiotherapists of the same selection, as well as to players
Stefan Marković, Boban Marjanović and Petar Despotović. Uroš Nikolić was awarded for the gold won at the European
championship of the young, whereas Stevan Lekić and Danilo Anđušić got acknowledgments for the gold won at the
European championship of the cadets.
The women's basketball players Tamara Radočaj and Zorica Mitov as well as the coach Goran Topić also got awards to
mark the occasion for the silver won at the European Championship of the young in Bulgaria.
Coach Miroslav Nikolić and the cadet representative Stevan Lekić thanked for the awards on behalf of the ones who got
them.

ENCOUNTERING THE NEW SEASON
The Hemofarm STADA women's basketball club players have completed successfully the preparations for the new season
in which they will be led this year by coach Marina Maljković: - While taking over the team I announced that I would do
my best to justify the trust they have put in me. We worked hard and I believe that the Vršac spectators will enjoy quality
play of the Hemofarm women's basketball team. We should not deceive ourselves, the season will be extremely hard,
because it is the primary goal of each team to beat the champion, thus to play against Hemofarm will be an additional
incentive for everyone. All our opponents will have this goal. We will firstly have to concentrate on our own problems and
endeavour to have each player improve the individual level of play and thereby also the play of the team - pointed out
Miss Maljković.
In answer to the question as to how will the play of the Serbian champions differ in the new season, Maljković continued:
Each coach has his own style and his understanding of basketball. I will need a little time to get acquainted with the team. I
will certainly keep some features of the Hemofarm play from the previous period and there will be some novelties. The last
year's team Ušće which I coached last year, insisted on aggressive defence, pressing over the whole court. It is certain that
I will also request this approach in my new club. Still, following some control matches and the first couple of rounds,
everything will be much clearer. As regards new players, the preparatory period has shown what I can do. Ivana
Dojčinović had problems with injuries, but now everything is alright. She is a player who can certainly make a great
contribution to the play of the team, when she is ready. I believe that Dajana Butulija is one of the best quality back
shooters in the local championship and Jelena Babić is an experienced player, a great fighter, the type of player who
leads the team and is a very positive person.
The new wing in the Hemofarm STADA club and the most famous this year's reinforcement, Ivana Dojčinović, was born in
Senta on 9.02.1981. She began her career in Bečej, at 17 she changed to Spartak in which she played six years, after
that she spent two years in the Novi Sad team Vojvodina. She played in Crvena Zvezda in the first part of last season, and
the second part of the season in the Hungarian Pečuj. She played for the cadet and junior national team and last year she
was also in the senior national team of Serbia. Dojčinović pointed out that she did not choose Hemofarm by chance:
There have been other offers too, of course, but I wanted to come back to Serbia, to continue my education and be with
my family. Those are some private reasons, and the basketball reasons ... I believe that there is no need to point out
particularly what Hemofarm meand in Serbia, particularly when women's basketball is in question. Playing in Hungary with
coach Ratgeber, in the Euroleague has meant a lot to me as far as experience is concerned, because basketball is on a
much higher level there and there is a much greater interest in it, it is a special feeling to play each match in front of several
thousand people. As for the coming season, everyone knows what is expected of Hemofarm, only the highest goals. This
will be a new experience for me, but I sincerely hope that I will fit in well into the team. I know most of them personally, like
Marina Janković, Biljana Stanković, Dara Kovačević and some others and I believe that they will accept me well. As far as
cooperation with coach Marina Maljković is concerned, Vršac and Hemofarm are a new environment for her too and I
would like us to achieve the set goals with joint efforts and help each other to fit in as quickly and best as possible.
In comparison with the last year's team, Tamara Bajić is not in the team anymore and the promotion of the team for this
season with the newcomers - Dojčinović, Butulija and Babić - is set for October 27 when they will be playing in the
premiere match of the local championship against the Kovin team.
REALISTIC CHANCES FOR GOING ON TO THE SECOND ROUND
The pairs for the competition within the Euro Cup for men and the Euro Cup for women were drawn in hotel Kempinski in
Munich beginning of August. 115 clubs from the Old Continent found themselves in competition for all three European
cups. For us it was most important to see which team would be the opponent for the Hemofarm STADA women basketball
players. The Pills found themselves in B group of the Euro Cup with the Turkish representative Pankup TED Koledi from

Kajser, Greek Apollo from Ptolemaid and the Roumanian team Bachet ICIM from Arad. Regardless of the fact that all three
teams have foreign players, the first impression is that the draw was good for our team, but the real rank by quality of these
teams will be established on the following matches. The Hemofarm STADA basketball players will be playing the first
match as guests against Apollo on November 8, whereas the European premiere in the Millennium Center is scheduled for
November 15.

The 2,000,000th Passenger at the Belgrade Airport ''Nikola Tesla''
Already 5 weeks earlier than in 2006, the Belgrade airport Nikola Tesla had its 2,000,000 th passenger on October 4,
and that was our colleague Joan Duru, the manager of SPJ in the Hemofarm Portfolio service, who was going on that day
to a marketing meeting in Obninsk in Russia. While checking her ticket, she found out that she had was the 2,000,000th
passenger.
On this occasion, Nebojša Nedeljković, the General Director of the Public Company Nikola Tesla airport gave Miss Duru
a gift to mark the occasion – a silver coin with the Nikola Tesla airport logo and said that he hoped that she would
continue use the services of this airport in the future.
Pleasantly surprised by the gift, Miss Duru thanked him for it and praised the Belgrade airport, the services of which she
uses at least five to six times per year, mainly while travelling on business.
The Traditional Reception for the First Grade Students
One more traditional reception for the first grade students, children of our employees, was organized In the lobby of the
Hemofarm administrative building on Saturday, September 1.
The Center for Hemofarm PR, organized some food and entertainment for some seventy youngsters on which occasion the
first graders were amused by the actor Dragan Džankić. The youngsters danced and sang along with his song and guitar

until it was time for him to leave, and even then they ran after him so as to get a photo with him for remembrance of this
merry occasion.
This was followed by handing out of small surprise gifts for the first graders, after which, as it seemed, there was no end to
the children's joy. Followed by their parents, the first graders left our Company satisfied and went home, where they had to
get prepared for their first school day.

THE GREAT SUCCESS OF OUR COLLEAGUE
VLADA MARINKOVIC
The twentieth anniversary of the CANON EOS system in Serbia was marked
among other things by the big photograph competition Observations from Life
in which over 9000 photographs competed, the second place was won by
our colleague Vlada Marinković, the purchase department manager in
Hemofarm.
The competition was announced in the daily paper ''24 hours'' and a good
response was expected. After the closing date, the jury had a serious task,
because it was necessary to select from such a big number of photographs,
those who deserved to be in the narrower selection. According to the mass
media there were real artistic photographs among these photos, which were
taken by professionals and photos taken by amateurs who had sent the
photos they had taken on summer holidays or family trips.
The present guests were able to see at the award giving ceremony, besides
the awarded photos also the remaining 25 photos from the narrower
selection. The first place was won by NikolaFifić, a photoreporter from
Večernje novosti, the second place by Vlada Marinković, third by Vladimir
Đinić, fourt Dejan Radosavljević and fifth by Alen Popov.
On the occasion of such a nice acknowlegement, being the second among

over 9000 participants, Vlada Marinković said to the mass media that the camera was his best friend and that he took it
everywhere he went. Taking photos is my hobby and I have dedicated lately a lot of my time to it – said Marinković.
He won at this competition with the photograph Relax which shows a Cuban beach. Another photo Walking ranked also
high, but the first five places were only for colour photos whereas this one was black and white. He had made while
travelling around the world, on business or privately, many fascinating shots. Thanks to his photos, he cooperated with
Canadian publishing companies, and his photos have also been included in several tourist guides.
Still, the greatest thing for me was when the British Guardian bought my photos for their ''travel'' site page – said our
colleague.
OUR BABIES
Although it is a practice to publish the photographs of newborn babies, aged just a couple of months up to one year at
most on the pages of Hemofarm Press, which is also in the spirit of the project A Baby is Coming, which our company
supports, a whole lot of photographs of quite older babies arrived to the the PR Center. We believe that there will also be
room for these a little older babies on the pages of Hemofarm Press, in some of the future columns of our paper, however
we will respect the established procedure this time. Sofija Sofronić was the oldest among the babies this time, who had just
celebrated her first birthday. She is the daughter of our colleague from Zorka Pharma Ivan Sofronić and his wife Ljubica.
After her, mid winter, more precisely on January 4, little Lena Lazarević was born, the princess of Sreten Lazarević, an
associate in the commercial team for West Balkans and his wife Miljana Bogdanović Lazarević.
And then the first boy was born, appearing on this page of Hemofarm Press, little Uroš Jeremić. He brought happiness to
his mother Marijana Jeremić, who works in the Marketing (Belgrade team II) and his father Zoran Jeremić. Then just before
the beginning of summer Ivan Đurić, the expert associate for calibrations in the Quality Assurance Sector, became the
proud father of his second us, Pavle Đurić. Ivan and his wife Irena already have one son, Luka.
Then happy news about a birth came from Hemofarm Banjaluka. Our colleagues Aleksandar and Mara Jejnić became
parents on June 30 of a sweet girl Nikolina.
And for the first time in this column we had twins, Vasilije and Pavle who were born on July 22 bringing joy to their mother
Jelena and father Predrag Vasić.
The youngest one in this group of babies was Jelena Maričić, who brought joy to her mother Sladjana and father Igor
Maričić, employed in Hemofarm. And what else is there to say, except that we congratulate the proud parents and wish
more and more babies to appear on these pages.
