Chris Doran rises to meet a cross from Asher Mendelsohn in a 1-0 loss against Connection on April 27, 2008.
increasing pressure, Green White could not find the equalizer, and had to
accept a frustrating 1-0 defeat. Coach Limna commented afterwards, “It
was a disappointing start to the season made more so by the fact that this
was a team we could have and should have beaten. We had the better
possession and chances but conceded a goal due to some poor defending
and failed to score despite dominating many aspects of the game.”
Other Metropolitan League Major Division results from the weekend:
Vikings 3 - Wings 1; United Serbs - Sockers (not reported); Polonia 1 -
Schwaben 0; Eagles 1 - Maroons 0.
the Reserve Team’s spring season was compromised by uncooperative
weather. So too were their games against Eagles, Vikings and Polonia
postponed.
The inaugural match under the guidance of new Reserve
Team player/coach Adam Gee had to wait until April 27,
2008 against Connection. Starting for the reserves were Jon Duddles,
Chris Salatino, Jaime Limna, Jake Truty, Adam Gee, Mitch
Lechowski, Alex Jurado, Mike Sulik, Neaman Lewis, Stuart Greer
and Ben Pavlovic.
In contrast to the First Team match, the reserve match saw a barrage of
goals. Inside of 20 minutes, however, Green White found themselves
