with a <strong>Coast</strong> Guard unit.<br />

c. <strong>Auxiliary</strong> operational facilities shall use <strong>the</strong> numbering system described below:<br />

1) The first two (2) digits will be <strong>the</strong> vessels length in whole feet.<br />

2) The third digit shall be derived from <strong>the</strong> vessels primary propulsion as<br />

follows:<br />

Outboard - 1<br />

Inboard/outboard - 2<br />

Inboard - 3<br />

Sail Only - 4<br />

PWC - 5<br />

3) The fourth, fifth and sixth digits will be assigned in sequence by CCGDONE<br />

(oax-SR).<br />

2. Once communications with <strong>the</strong> called unit are established, <strong>the</strong> abbreviated call sign<br />

may be used.<br />

Example: Full call for “<strong>Coast</strong> Guard <strong>Auxiliary</strong> Clin<strong>to</strong>n Radio: may be<br />

abbreviated <strong>to</strong> “Clin<strong>to</strong>n Radio.” Similarly, “<strong>Coast</strong> Guard <strong>Auxiliary</strong><br />

vessel/AUXFAC 263540” may be abbreviated <strong>to</strong> “540”.<br />
