Elephant ears are native of tropical countries & are grown for their beautiful large leaves. They are suitable for growing
in containers & for borders. The large leaves grow atop 3-7 foot stems. They need a minimum temperature of 70° F.
They can be grown outdoors for the summer & brought in before frost. After the last frost, plant tubers when night temperatures
maintain around 60° F. Plant 2-3" deep & up to 6 feet apart in rich, organic soil. The tubers may be started indoors at
temperatures from 70-75° F. Water plants generously & fertilize often. In fall after the first frost, dig up the tubers, cut off
the foliage & store w/the soil attached at 45-55° F.

Plant caladium bulbs outdoors in late Spring since they will grow more vigorously in warm soil. Bulbs should be covered w/at least
1 1/2" to 2 1/2" of soil. A well drained soil is very important. Caladiums like water therefore be sure they are planted in an area that
receives adequate irrigation. Partial or full shade enhances the color of the leaves.
