Fitness Tips
June 17, 2013 | Vol. 8, Issue 25
3 Tips to Stay on the
Fitness Wagon | Your Mind
Your Body by Alicia Sparks
1. Set a realistic goal.
Good goals are realistic,
specific, positive, and have
a timeframe attached.
Remember, less is more
when it comes to setting
and sticking with fitness
goals. Focus on setting a
goal that's within your control
and fits your lifestyle.
2. Build a support group.
Once you've set your goal,
WEEK 1
SCOREBOARD
51 active
participants
tell a friend or colleague.
There's nothing like a little
peer pressure to keep you
honest about your commitments.
Join a training
group. Join a class or club,
or hire a trainer to help you
meet your goal. Building a
support network will go a
long way toward helping
you maintain your resolve.
3. Gear up. More often
than not, a fitness regime
requires the proper clothing,
shoes or equipment.
Invest in yourself and your
goal with at least the most
basic gear required to get
started. Equipping yourself
appropriately increases
your motivation and helps
you avoid injury that can
sidetrack your fitness
efforts.
Monte Varah, Landscape
Supervisor, represents all six
core values every day. He
enjoys being the guy who
can respond to a need and help
the team. As an example, in
preparation for Jack Nicklaus'
visit this past week, Monte
creatively used Google Maps
to map out all six courses hole-by-hole with
talking points for Mr. Nicklaus and his team
to use. The booklet was well received and
very helpful to everyone during the tour.
"Take the lead, solve the problem." This is
how Monte works. He coordinates and meets
with contractors for numerous projects and
always provides excellent follow up with the
bottom line in mind. Monte's vast knowledge
of the property and native landscape is second
to none. He knows how to preserve the
landscape while still making it appealing to
golfers from all around the world. Myself and
those who work with Monte are benefitted by
his knowledge and expertise in native desert
plant material. Thank you, Monte, for being a
true leader and trusted partner.
shine the spotlight on for
truly going above and
beyond. Thank you to
All three are
