Welcome to the Fourth Annual Symposium for Undergraduate
Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity.
The creative process can be a lonely one. The researcher toils away,
often in isolation, trying to shed new light that enriches our
understanding of social or natural phenomena, nourishes our emotions,
or enlivens our souls. However, presenting the results of that process to one‘s peers and
mentors is exhilarating. Here, the key is clarity of communication and openness David to comments Fairris
and criticism. The symposium presentation is how we reveal the product of our toils and
improve that product through careful listening.
I commend you on your creative efforts and wish you the best as you present the results of
those efforts to the larger UCR community.
With best regards,
