Expensive EU/JP Games
RARE GAMES ARE ONE THING. The dedicated collector
will eventually come across even the rarest title at
a good price. The expensive titles, however, are the sole
domain of those with a thick wallet. Following are a
sample of the most pricey EU and JP releases, but, of
course, there are many more than the ones we’ve listed
here. Surgeons, lawyers and investment bankers should
also take a look at, to list a few, Kula World (E),
Castlevania Limited Edition (E), Ramna Battle Renaissance
(J), Kaitou Apricot (J), Captain Commando (J),
Harmful Park (J), Panzer Bandits (J), Taoplan Shooting
Battle (J), and the numerous Japanese “limited edition”
boxsets.
Mortal Kombat II
Japan | SLPS-00444 | 1996
MORTAL KOMBAT II IS ARGUABLY the best fighter in
the Mortal Kombat series. It is rather surprising that Acclaim
released this game in Japan and not in the US. This
could be attributed to the fact that Tekken and Battle Arena
Toshinden were already on the market and showing off the
extraordinary 3D capabilities of the PlayStation. For a 2D
game on a 3D game system, Mortal Kombat II holds up
fairly well. Graphics are crisp and the control is arcade-like.
The one drawback to this Playstation port is that when finishing
moves are performed, the game pauses in order to
load in the data due to the PlayStation’s limited RAM. Mortal
Kombat II was released in very limited quantities, so it is
quite a collector’s item. This game often sells for over $100.
