Education Costs
We aim to ensure that Marian College is financially accessible for all families desiring an
education for their child. We have kept the educational costs very low and our costs are the
lowest of any non-government school in Victoria.
In 2010, to make budgeting easier for families, all of the school costs have been brought
together in one amount. This amount can be paid off throughout the school year. Parents will
not be asked for further money for school programs (exception is the Year 11 Camp).
An Affordable Education
One of our Brigidine Core Values is to welcome all people- especially the most vulnerable. We
want Marian College to be financially accessible to all familes who desire an education here.
Marian College’s fees are reported to be the lowest of any Catholic Secondary school in
Victoria. Our fees in 2010 for the year will be:
First child $1450
Second child $1080
Third child $880
Fourth child $680
An All Inclusive Fee
There is nothing more frustrating than to be constantly presented with demands to cover
additional education costs during the year. Our fee covers all the tuition expenses, subject
expenses and excursion and camp costs with the exception of the Year 11 Ski Trip. An
additional charge covering the cost of hiring the equipment.
No Subject Levies
We do not charge any subject levies. Students can choose any subject without having to pay
for material costs.
A Flat Rate Fee
The fee is a flat rate set across all year levels. We do not have higher fees for the higher year
levels. The Year 12 fee is the same as the Year 7 fee.
Family Discounts
There are significant discounts for siblings to help families with two or more children at Marian
College.
Low Cost Booklists
Textbooks are very expensive and are changed frequently. The cost of purchasing textbooks
can be significant for families. We provide most textbooks for Year 7 to Year 10. The book list
mainly includes consumables items.
Fee Payments
Parents are not required to make upfront fee payments. Payments can be made weekly,
fortnightly, monthly, annually or at any other interval that suits the family. Direct Debit,
Credit Card and Direct Deposit arrangements are available.
Government Assistance
The Educational maintenance Allowance (EMA) is available for holders of Health Care, Pensioner
Health Benefits or Health Benefits cards. The EMA is around $450 and half is paid directly to
the school. We put this half towards the fees.
