Permanence
Bob and Cynthia Stowe were soul
mates. Bob was a renaissance man, an
artist, poet, and minister who dedicated
his career to helping those in need.
He also gave time to the Community
Foundation by serving on its Distribution
Committee.
Cynthia was a beloved friend,
special needs educator, author, and
school psychologist who volunteered
for the Literacy Project and the New
England Learning Center for Women
in Transition (NELCWIT).
Bob and Cynthia lived modestly and
focused on faith, service, and friendship.
They had a strong vision of what their
legacy could be. The Foundation helped
the Stowes plan their legacy during their
lifetimes and, at their deaths which were
just a year apart, their estate made a significant
contribution to the Foundation,
to establish three unique funds. The
Foundation will invest and administer
these funds as a permanent memorial
to Bob and Cynthia’s inspired lives.
Bob and Cynthia Stowe chose to establish three
permanent funds at their deaths to support theological
seminaries in perpetuity, scholarships for women attending
Greenfield Community College, and grants to benefit
programs that reflect Christian faith in action, using the
Foundation’s competitive grantmaking services.
