Our Parish Family’s Response to the Sandy Hook School Tragedy
Our hearts go out to the children and teachers who lost their lives in the senseless tragedy at Sandy Hook School.
If you wish to express your sympathies or write words of encouragement to the families of those lost, and to the
survivors, please drop off a card or write a letter and place it in the box located in the vestibule. Or you can mail the
card to the church and put Attn. Sandy Hook School on the envelope. We will then mail the cards we have received to
Sandy Hook School.
Although we cannot comprehend the depth of their sadness and grief, we want them to know that they are in our
thoughts and prayers. Please take the time to write a simple sentiment.

2013 ARCHDIOCESAN ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL BEGINS
“Love Never Fails!” 1 Cor 13:8
The 2013 Annual Catholic Appeal is underway. Many of our parishioners either have or soon will receive a mailing from
Cardinal George. He will ask that you make a pledge to the 2013 Annual Catholic Appeal. Please respond generously.
The Appeal supports parish ministries that provide religious education to children, youth, and adults in economically
disadvantaged communities. It is also one of the largest philanthropic sources of financial support for Catholic Schools
in the Archdiocese. The Appeal funds services that are of great help to ministries here in our parish.
This year, the theme of the Appeal is: “Love Never Fails!” It is God’s love for us that is responsible for all that we are
and all that we have. We are the beneficiaries of God’s love throughout our lives.
As we contemplate His gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the
work our parish, of our Archdiocese and of the Church throughout the world is, in fact, one way to express this
gratitude.
Please consider the materials that you will receive. Review the ministries and services funded by the Annual Catholic
Appeal, including the ones that directly support the work of our parish. Then please give generously.
Please note that when our parish reaches its goal of $24,776 in paid pledges, 100% of the additional funds received will
be returned to us for use in our parish.

FRUIT JUICES. All donations may be left in the vestibule.
The food pantry at our sharing parish, St. Eulalia’s in Maywood, IL, is in great need of the donations we receive each
week. Your continued generosity in remembering the needy is appreciated.

Choose a Catholic High School!
On Saturday, January 12, 2013, all Catholic High Schools
in the Archdiocese of Chicago will offer an entrance
exam for eighth graders interested in attending their
schools. Why choose a Catholic high school? Students in
Catholic high schools reach high levels of academic
achievement; they graduate and do well in college and
beyond; they are given every opportunity through
extracurricular activities and athletic programs to excel
as persons; they become oriented toward service and
toward building a caring community that is safe and
disciplined. But the single most important reason for
choosing a Catholic secondary school is that these
schools are Catholic — they offer young people a sense
of purpose, something to believe in.
Students should report to the high school they wish to
attend at 8:00 AM on January 12th, with two #2 pencils
and a check or money order for the $25 exam fee made
payable to the school.
