The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, thank
you for your support on Mission Sunday. The
Mission Sunday Collection for Ireland in 2010
amounted to €2,215,019. The Mission Sunday
Collection from the Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin
was €71,898.00. Thank you for your great
generosity despite very difficult financial times.
NATIONAL CHURCH APPEAL FOR EAST
AFRICA
As you will have seen from TV reports, the
situation in East Africa has reached a dreadful
‘tipping point’ due to the prolonged and severe
drought. Up to 12 million people are at immediate
risk, half of them children. To help provide much
needed aid, it has been decided by Bishops that a
National Church appeal for East Africa (for
Trócaire) will take place on weekend of
23 rd /24 th July.
Please give something extra on the plate.

BUILDING OF HOPE PROJECT
The Building of Hope Charity (Co. Clare based)
is looking for skilled and unskilled people to help
construct a residential home for blind orphaned
children in Mombasa, Kenya. Two hundred
volunteers will travel in four separate groups of
fifty in January and February 2012 for ten days.
€3,000 is the cost and it includes all materials,
flights and accommodation. We will give you all
the assistance you need with fundraising. Any
help you can give to make a difference in the life
of these children will be very rewarding.

LIME TREE
Working Vintage Harvest Day
A Working Vintage Harvest Day will take
place on Sun. 7 th August on the lands of
The Smyth Family, Limetree, Portarlington.
The day will see a pre-1970 combine
working, vintage cars, a single cylinder
tractor challenge and vintage tractor pulling.
The Laois Flying Club will have an air
display for that extra bit of magic. Lots of
interesting side shows, parachute jumps,
roasting pig, butter making display and
much more. Raffle will take place at 5pm on
the day. Proceeds in aid of Patients’ Fund,
St. Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick.
