RECORD BREAKING GRID
The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia looks set for a record-breaking
ninth season with an unprecedented 28 drivers signing
up for the region’s most prestigious GT championship.
A unique ingredient of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia’s
soaring success is the dual championship system, where
professional racing drivers compete alongside amateur
racers in two, points-scoring classes.
The countdown to the start of the stellar season, which
includes 11 rounds, began on March 12 at Malaysia’s
Formula 1 facility, Sepang International Circuit. The
bumper field of sportscar specialists from across the
globe will take their awesome Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racing
65,000 general admission tickets for the 2011 Formula
1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix , which will be held at
the Marina Bay Street Circuit from 23 to 25 September
has been released for sale. A number of new ticketing
initiatives for the event has been introduced. Increased
discounts for early bird grandstand buyers, offering up
to a 17% saving on regular priced tickets. The tickets
will be priced differently across two phases: Early Bird
(3 March to 8 May) and Regular (9 May to race week).
A new group booking scheme for the three largest
grandstands – the Bay, Padang and Pit Grandstands is
also being introduced. The Group Booking Special offers
savings of up to 10% for fans who purchase four or
more tickets in one booking. For greater savings, fans
can put together a group of eight or more and enjoy
up to 16% off. By combining the early-bird discounts
with the Group Booking Special, fans can enjoy up to
30% off a regular priced individual ticket in selected
grandstands.
In addition, the Stamford Grandstand has been lowered
by S$200 in order to achieve optimal commonality of
pricing amongst the grandstands in Zone 4. Spectators
at the Stamford Grandstand will enjoy close proximity
to the main entertainment stage in the Padang.

field is Team Jebsen’s Rodolfo Avila of the Macau SAR. The

– and just his third year of GT competition – a creditable
4th overall. Singapore’s Mok Weng Sun returns with Team
Porsche Club Singapore Racing, this time back in Class A
having dominated the amateur category last season to
take the title for the second time.
To further benefit patrons with limited mobility, an
additional wheelchair accessible platform will be
constructed at Zone 1 this year. In addition, multi awardwinning
band Linkin Park has also been confirmed as the
headlining act on race day, 25 September 2011 at the
Padang main stage. Tickets will be available for sale online,
via the ticketing hotline, as well as all SISTIC outlets.

LAUNCH OF CARS.SVTA
It was a night of electrifying ambience on 22 February, Tuesday,
at the launch of CARS.SVTA, a joint development between
Singapore Vehicle Traders Association (SVTA) and Singapore
Press Holdings (SPH) that came to fruition after nearly two
years of detailed planning and dedicated efforts.
As a non-profit organisation, SVTA strives to offer low
advertising rates to its members but for the first year of
the launch, members will be able post their ads for free.
The portal also serves as a communication platform on SVTA
activities to its 400 members and other related parties. It
also aims to be a reliable motor resource for car buyers with
the integration of LTA’s (Land Transport Authority) motoring
links and tools such as ERP rates and loan calculator,
reinforcing its status as an all-in-one motoring web portal.

MALAYSIA GRAND PRIX
Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Racing) scored his second victory of the
season and extended his world championship points tally to 50.
Despite having problems with his KERS, Vettel managed to claim
top spot ahead of McLaren’s Jenson Button. Renault’s Heidfeld
fended off Mark Webber’s Red Bull to the final podium slot.
